Halep, Cilic, Sabalenka bow out of Australian Open 2022

Favourites Medevedev and Tstsipas advanced to the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam.
Unseeded Elize Cornet advanced to her first major quarter-final, upsetting 14th seed Simona Halep in straight sets 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. it was an iconic moment for Cornet. She first entered the main draw of a Grand Slam in 2005. So, making it to the quarter-final of a major Grand Slam after such a long time marks the end of a big wait for her. After this win, Cornet is high on confidence and will be aiming for the Australian Open title.
Medvedev aims for World No. 1 spot
World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev has advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. He won the match 6-2, 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 in 3 hours and 30 minutes. He beat Maxim Cressy to get to the last eight. Cressy produced a classic fight back. Medvedev, on the other hand, demonstrated his class to win the fourth set. If he goes on to win the tournament, he is all but assured to become the World No. 1.
Sinner enters quarter-final
Alex de Minaur lost in straight sets to Jannik Sinner. Alex tried to fight back, but Jannik was dominant throughout the match and gave no chance to his opponent. Jannik defeated Alex with a score of 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, 6-4 to advance in the tournament. Jannik had the edge over Alex by converting three out of the six break points.
Experience helps Tsitsipas win
Fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated American Taylor Fritz on Monday. He came back from a set down twice to win 4-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and advance to the Australian Open quarter-finals. It was Tsitsipas' experience that helped him clinch this match.
Cilic bows out
Felix Auger-Aliassime, advanced to the quarter-final with a 2-6, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 triumph against former Australian Open finalist Marin Cilic. Felix defeated Marin after 3 hours and 35 minutes. In spite of losing the first set, he kept himself calm to clinch the win. The match was a thriller and will go down in history as one of the best clashes in the competition's history.
Big upset for Sabalenka
World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka suffered a major upset at the hands of Kaia Kanepi losing in straight sets 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (10/7) to exit from the Australian Open. Unseeded Kaia Kanepi made it to the last eight for the first time in her career after 2006, and looks in good composure to win this title.
Swiatek reaches first Australian Open quarter-final
Iga Swiatek, the No. 7 seed from Poland finally won 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 against Sorana Cirstea of Romania on Monday to advance to her first Australian Open quarter-final.
After dropping her first set, she battled to win the match and move ahead in the tournament.
Collins makes her way to quarter-final
Danielle Collins has advanced to the Australian Open quarter-finals following a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 comeback victory against Elise Mertens. Collins battled for almost 3 hours to defeat the World No. 19.
