(Watch) Casper Ruud arrives in Sweden ahead of 2024 Bastad Open with girlfriend, Maria Galligani

Casper Ruud has been dating Maria Galligani since 2018.

Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud arrived in Sweden before the 2024 Bastad Open alongside his girlfriend, Maria Galligani.

Ruud last played at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, losing in the second round against Italy’s Fabio Fognini in four sets. However, the 25-year-old is again set to return to his favorite surface with the Bastad Open, scheduled from July 15 to 21.

Defending champion Russia’s Andrey Rublev entered the tournament as the top seed after Italy’s Jannik Sinner announced his withdrawal from the ATP 250 event last week due to fatigue. The tournament will play a crucial role in preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics, as all the tennis tournaments of the sporting megafest will be played on the red dirt at the prestigious Stade Roland Garros.

After Andrey Rublev, Casper Ruud is seeded second and Tallon Griekspoor is third. However, Rafael Nadal would be the one star every tennis star would look out for at the ATP 250 event. After Roland Garros in 2024, Nadal will play his first tournament on the tour. The 22-time Grand Slam champion will commence his singles campaign at the clay court event against Bjorn Borg’s son, Leo Borg.

Moreover, apart from singles action, he will also be playing doubles alongside Casper Ruud. The duo of Ruud and Nadal will face Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela and Guido Andreozzi in their first-round match. However, before the match, the Norwegian tennis star arrived in Sweden with his girlfriend, Maria Galligani. He also uploaded a picture with his girlfriend on social media. He also wrote, “The team had arrived.”

Casper Ruud will face a qualifier in his first match in Bastad. India’s Sumit Nagal will also be in action at the competition as he will face Sweden’s Elias Ymer in the first round. If he wins, the 26-year-old will face fourth seed Argentina’s Mariano Navone in the second round. Interestingly, tennis enthusiasts can potentially witness a match between Sumit Nagal and Rafael Nadal in the third round.
