Tennis legends Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova recently lavished praise on Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton after he won the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
Hamilton outplayed the likes of Max Verstappen and Lando Norris to win his ninth British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone. Additionally, the British F1 star broke legend Michael Schumacher’s record for most wins at one track, who earlier held the record at Magny-Cours.
It was Hamilton’s first victory since Saudi Arabia in 2021. Moreover, it was Louis Hamilton’s 104th Formula One victory. Max Verstappen finished in the second spot behind the 39-year-old while McLaren’s Lando Norris secured the third spot after a decent start.
He said after the race, “Since 2021, every day fighting, training and putting my mind to the task, working as hard as I can. This is my last race for the team here, I love them so much, I’ll be forever grateful to everyone at Mercedes and to the incredible fans.”
Hamilton also took to social media and uploaded a picture with the Silverstone accolade. The whole social media post included several pictures from the Brit’s recent victory. He captioned the post, “YES 945 days since the last win and it’s finally come home. SILVERSTONE I LOVE YOU. There’s no crowd that deserves this more. This is love, this is family.”

He further wrote, “Thank you all for the love and support. Massive shout to the team as well. Everyone in the garage and back at the factory have given long hard hours for this result. It’s not been easy but it’s brought us back to back wins for the team. Most importantly we didn’t lose hope. We didn’t give up. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU KEEP GOING. STILL WE RISE !!!!!”
After the post was uploaded, the likes of Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova commented on the post. The 23-time singles Grand Slam champion wrote, “Don’t let any one tell you what you can’t do you better than everyone! Seeeeee?? I see!”

Meanwhile, five-time Grand Slam champion Maria Sharapova commented, “incredible effort”. Sharapova also recently watched games at the Centre Court at 2024 Wimbledon as the Championships celebrated the 20th anniversary of her grass-court Grand Slam.
