Carlos Alcaraz vs Taylor Fritz prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Japan Open 2025

Carlos Alcaraz has dropped only one set in Tokyo.
Carlos Alcaraz’s rhythm was disrupted in his last four meeting with Casper Ruud when he lost the opening set to the Norwegian. The World No.1 did manage to make amends for his straight-set loss to Ruud at last year’s ATP Finals.
The Spaniard clawed his way back to overcome Ruud 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in two hours and eight minutes to make his 10th tour-level final of the season. Alcaraz is now 5-1 against the 26-year-old Ruud, also bringing up his 66th match win of the ongoing season and his 275th win on tour overall.
Alcaraz will now take on Taylor Fritz in the finals of the 2025 Japan Open on Tuesday, October 30, for a chance to pocket his eighth title of the season.
Fritz eliminated Jenson Brooksby in an all-American semi-final 6-4, 6-3 in 90 minutes to make the title round of the Japan Open for the second time. The No. 2 seed won the title in 2022 in straight sets over compatriot Frances Tiafoe. Fritz is in his third final of 2025 and the 19th of his career.
The World No.5 from California will face Alcaraz for the first time in a tour-level event final. Fritz trails Alcaraz 3-1 in their head-to-head after registering his first victory against the Spaniard at this year’s Laver Cup.

Preview
Alcaraz and Fritz accounted for three Americans en route to the final of the 2025 Japan Open. The Spaniard accounted for Brandon Nakashima in the last eight, while Fritz had a hand in eliminating Seb Korda in the last eight, followed by Jenson Brooksby in the last four.
Alcaraz and Fritz will be squaring off for the fourth time in their careers with the title at stake.
It is their first tour-level final and their first meeting on Asian soil just a week after their Laver Cup clash. The 2025 final will mark the first time that the two top seeds are facing off in the finals since Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray in 2011
The Spaniard is close to making history as the third player to win in Tokyo on debut after Novak Djokovic (2019) and Ben Shelton (2023). Alcaraz could also become the first Spanish winner since Nadal in 2010.

Match prediction
Alcaraz is 18-1 since Wimbledon, the sole loss coming to Fritz at the 2025 Laver Cup in California. Fritz got the better of the Spaniard at the Laver Cup for the first time in their head-to-head. The American can fall back on that win as a morale booster ahead of Tuesday’s final.
The Spaniard will be motivated by the desire for payback in the title round. Alcaraz’s loss to Fritz at the Laver Cup cost Team Europe the trophy.
Alcaraz will be keen to prove that the unexpected result in California was an aberration. Alcaraz put on display his trademark resilience and ability to soak up pressure as he bounced back from a set down against Casper Ruud.
Fritz may trouble him, but the Spaniard has a variety of tools to counter the American’s challenge successfully.
Result: Carlos Alcaraz to win in straight sets.
