Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka will face each other for the third time this season.

Only four players remain in the men’s and women’s singles event at the 2024 Cincinnati Open. Jannik Sinner will face Alexander Zverev while a marquee clash between Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka will headline the women’s singles event.

Thus, without any further delay, let’s take a look at the semifinals predictions for the 2024 Cincinnati Open:

Cincinnati Open: Men’s Singles

Holger Rune vs Frances Tiafoe

Holger Rune took down Great Britain’s Jack Draper 6-4, 6-2 to secure a spot in the semifinals of the 2024 Cincinnati Open. The Dane will face America’s Frances Tiafoe in his fourth ATP 1000 Masters semifinals. Both tennis players have failed to win a title in 2024, meanwhile, Tiafoe is currently looking forward to winning his first Masters accolade.

The American tennis star has given tough competition to tennis stars including Carlos Alcaraz, Andrey Rublev and Lorenzo Musetti in recent months. Thus, the 2022 US Open semifinalist is keen to win his maiden ATP Masters title and Cincinnati is a decent opportunity. Interestingly, it will be the two tennis stars’ first meeting on the tour.

Prediction: Holger Rune to win in three sets.

Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev

Jannik Sinner overcame the hurdle of Andrey Rublev and also completed redemption to reach the semifinal of the 2024 Cincinnati Open. Meanwhile, Alexander Zverev survived a scare against Ben Shelton, who chased the German until denouement but failed to make ends meet. Next up, the World No. 1 will face the third seed for a spot in the final in Cincinnati.

Interestingly, Alexander Zverev leads Jannik Sinner 4-1 in their head-to-head record on the tour. The Italian tennis star defeated Zverev only once, which happened during the 2020 French Open. Since then, the German tennis star has been invincible against Sinner. They last faced each other in the Round of 16 of the 2023 US Open, where the match was forced into five sets, and Zverev was the eventual winner. However, the 23-year-old, playing his fourth ATP 1000 Masters semifinal this year, will aim to end the losing streak.

Predictions: Alexander Zverev to win in three sets.

Cincinnati Open: Women’s Singles

Iga Swiatek vs Aryna Sabalenka

After facing each other twice in a single week in Madrid and Rome, the exquisite rivalry of Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka is back in charts for the tennis enthusiasts. The Pole defeated Mirra Andreeva and Marta Kostyuk in the last two matches while Sabalenka stunned Liudmila Samsonova and Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals and the Round of 16 respectively.

Swiatek leads Sabalenka 8-3 in the record and they will be meeting for the fifth time in a WTA event semifinal. Additionally, the Pole has won five titles this year, excluding an Olympic bronze medal and has lost only five matches. Meanwhile, Sabalenka has suffered from sickness and a shoulder injury due to which she missed the Wimbledon Championships and the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in straight sets

Jessica Pegula vs Paula Badosa

Former WTA World No. 2 Paula Badosa defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to reach the semifinals of the 2024 Cincinnati Open. However, she faces sixth seed and recently concluded Canadian Open champion Jessica Pegula in the semifinals. While Badosa is yet to drop a set in Cincinnati, Leylah Fernandez played two tiebreakers against Pegula in the quarterfinals.

However, Paula Badosa also won the 2024 Citi Open, which was her first title in nearly two years. The two tennis stars have faced each other twice on the tour with the American taking both victories. In their first match, Badosa retired in the first set while during their second meeting, the Spaniard was suffering from injuries. Thus, the match is set to be a mouth-watering clash.

Prediction: Paula Badosa to win straight sets
