Frances Tiafoe will play his maiden ATP Masters final at the 2024 Cincinnati Open.

The last two matches of the 2024 Cincinnati Open are set as Aryna Sabalenka awaits Canadian Open champion Jessica Pegula in the final. On the other side, Jannik Sinner will face America’s Frances Tiafoe in the men’s singles final.

Thus, without further ado, let’s take a look at the predictions for the men’s and women’s singles final at the 2024 Cincinnati Open:

Men’s Singles final: Jannik Sinner vs Frances Tiafoe

Before the second round of the Cincinnati Masters, Carlos Alcaraz was a likely candidate for the ATP 1000 title because of his recent form. The Spaniard completed the Channel Slam and won an Olympic silver medal. However, he crashed out from the second round of the Cincinnati Open after losing to Frenchman Gael Monfils in three sets.

Meanwhile, Jannik Sinner completed redemption over Russia’s Andrey Rublev to secure a spot in the semifinals, where he faced Alexander Zverev. Sinner was on a four-match lost streak against the German tennis star. However, he ended the streak as he faced Zverev in the Cincinnati semifinal.

A classic best-of-three match was played between the two, which lasted three hours and eight minutes. The first set was forced into a tiebreak, which Sinner eventually won 7-6 (11-9). Zverev was not ready to lose while Sinner was on a mission to win his fifth title of the season. The German tennis star won the second set but Sinner sealed the match in the third set by winning the tie-breaker.

Meanwhile, Frances Tiafoe handed Holger Rune a three-set loss; much like Sinner-Zverev, the winner of the match was decided in a tiebreak. Tiafoe will play the biggest final of his career, the American will face Sinner in his maiden ATP 1000 Masters championship match. The two have faced each other four times on the tour (all four meetings were on indoor hardcourt), and Sinner leads the tally at 3-1. They faced each other for the last time in the quarterfinals in Vienna.

Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets.

Women’s Singles final: Aryna Sabalenka vs Jessica Pegula

Returning from sickness and a ‘rare’ shoulder pain, Aryna Sabalenka has reached the final in Cincinnati. She started her campaign against Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the second round with a straight-set victory. Interestingly, she maintained the same composure throughout her campaign and even defeated Iga Swiatek in two sets.

The Belarusian tennis star is yet to lose a set in Cincinnati as she’s facing Jessica Pegula, currently on a nine-match unbeaten streak, in the final. Pegula, who defended her Canadian Open title last week, didn’t face a seeded player in her whole campaign before the final. However, she has been massively challenged by the likes of Leylah Fernandez and Paula Badosa.

The two have faced each other six times on the tour and Sabalenka leads the tally by 6-4. They locked horns against each other for the last time during the 2023 WTA Finals, where Pegula defeated Sabalenka 6-4, 6-3.

However, Pegula can benefit from the current form of winning the Canadian Open. Meanwhile, Sabalenka can aim to win her second hardcourt title of the season with the momentum she gained with a straight-set victory over WTA World No. 1 Iga Swiatek.

Prediction: Jessica Pegula to win in three sets.
