This is India's first win in the competition since 2019.

The doubles pair of Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan saved three match points and bounced back to win their game in the Davis Cup tie against Denmark. In the thrilling contest, they beat the Danish pair of Frederik Nielsen and Mikael Torpegaard 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-4). The victory helped India keep its place in the Davis Cup World Group I by taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the playoff tie.

The nearly two-hour contest saw Boppana and Sharan finding their way out from the clutches of defeat. The tense win ensured that India will stay in the World Group I for the 2022 season. On the other hand, Denmark will now again go back to World Group II. India had already grabbed a 2-0 lead on the opening day. This was courtesy of the performances of Yuki Bhambri and Ramkumar Ramanathan.

The win meant that India had already won the Davis Cup tie, thus rendering the two later singles matches nothing more than dead-rubbers.

In the first singles match of the day, Ramkumar Ramanathan kept his winning run going. Ramanathan defeated his Danish opponent Johannes Ingildsen in a three-set battle. The 170th ranked Indian player came down from a set down to turn back the tide in India's favour. The match ended with a 5-7, 7-5, 10-7 scoreline for the Indians to take their win to 4-0. The final match of the day between Yuki Bhambri and Cristian Sigsgaard did not take place.

The Delhi Gymkhana Club again saw an amazing fight back from the young Indians to make this possible. Though the Danes had already lost the tie and it was in a way a dead-rubber match, the accomplishment of the Indian tennis players cannot be denied.

Ramanathan hit six aces on his way and also made fewer unforced errors in the match. The 27-year-old again demonstrated his calmness to make this comeback possible.

This is India's first win since they beat Pakistan 4-0 in November 2019. Since then India lost to Finland (1-3) and Croatia (1-3) in away ties.T

The monumental win against Denmark is the nation's first win in the Davis cup, since their 4-1 victory against Pakistan in 2019. The win also keeps the nation's hopes alive after their 1-4 loss to Finland in 2021.
