Casper Ruud defeated Taylor Fritz in the fourth round of the French Open.

Norwegian tennis star Casper Ruud has revealed that he’ll try his best to take revenge on Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the French Open 2024.

Last year, Casper Ruud faced Novak Djokovic in the final of the French Open. The first set of the match was a contest of nip and tuck between the two tennis stars, as it lasted for 80 minutes, with Djokovic winning in the tiebreak. After losing the first set, Ruud’s performance looked full as he lost the match in straight sets.

Casper Ruud, who is a two-time Roland Garros runner-up, is keen to make the cut in the ongoing campaign. The former World No. #4 defeated Taylor Fritz in the fourth round in four sets on Monday. After the win, he addressed his quarter-final rival in an on-court interview.

He stated that he will face the Serbian tennis star in the quarter-final in a few days, and he’s looking forward to enjoying the match. The 25-year-old also affirmed that facing Djokovic is always a huge challenge, but he’s keen to take his revenge on the 24-time Grand Slam champion.

Ruud said, “I’m playing the quarter-final in a few days against Novak. I have nothing to lose. I’m gonna try to enjoy it. It’s gonna be another match against him. It’s always tough. No matter where you play him it’s one of the toughest challenges in our sport. We played obviously last year here in the final. I’m gonna try my best to get revenge.”

Ruud and Djokovic also faced each other in the semi-final of the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters earlier this year, where the 25-year-old managed to record his first-ever victory over the Serb. Before that, the two stars faced each other five times on the tour, with Djokovic winning all the matches.

Meanwhile, during a recent press release, Novak Djokovic revealed that he’s unsure of playing in the last eight fixtures. Djokovic claimed that he is suffering from a minor knee issue that flared after he slipped in the second set against Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round on Monday.
