Novak Djokovic also congratulated Iga Swiatek for winning her third consecutive French Open title last week.
24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic has congratulated Carlos Alcaraz for winning the 2024 French Open title on social media.
Novak Djokovic, who pulled out of the 2024 French Open at the quarter-finals, commented on Carlos Alcaraz’s recent Instagram post. The Spaniard recently uploaded a picture on social media, where he can be seen holding the Roland-Garros title. He captioned the post, “What can I say?”
As soon as the post was uploaded to social media, Novak Djokovic commented. He wrote, “Congratulations Carlos. A slam on each surface. Incredible job.” The Serb also congratulated the 2024 French Open women’s singles champion, Iga Swiatek.

Interestingly, Carlos Alcaraz was eliminated in the semi-finals at the 2023 French Open by Novak Djokovic. Nevertheless, Djokovic had to withdraw from the 2024 French Open when he suffered a knee injury after playing two five-set matches in three days. The Serb later revealed that he had already been suffering from a minor knee issue and it flared after he slipped in the second set in his fourth round fixture against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo.

The Serb immediately went through surgery in Paris for his torn meniscus last Wednesday. After Alcaraz defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals at the 2024 French Open, he addressed Djokovic’s injury and wished him a speedy recovery. He said, “He always recovers quickly from injuries and comes back stronger than ever. I hope we can all enjoy his tennis as quickly as possible.”
As per recent reports, the Serbian tennis star is expected to miss the upcoming Wimbledon Championship. However, he can make his return at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Djokovic was the defending champion at Roland-Garros; however, he lost 1600 ATP ranking points after his withdrawal from the tournament.
Thus, the Serb has dropped two spots in the rankings and Carlos Alcaraz has become the new World No. 2. The Spaniard will have a huge task to fulfill at 2024 Wimbledon, as he will be defending the 2000 PIF ATP Ranking points.
