Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff and more will be in action on Day 12 at the French Open 2024.
The first semi-final in the men’s and women’s singles events will take place on the 12th day of the 2024 French Open. Two-time defending champion Iga Swiatek will face Coco Gauff to get a step ahead in the race.
Meanwhile, defending champion Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal from the competition was a shocker for all tennis enthusiasts. However, due to the Serb’s withdrawal, the clay court major is set to crown a new champion this year in the men’s singles event.
Hence, without further ado, let’s take a look at the predictions for Day 12 matches at French Open 2024:
French Open 2024 men’s singles
Semi-finals: Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz
New World No. 1 Jannik Sinner is set to face arch-rival Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final of the 2024 French Open. The match is going to be special in several different ways. The two will play against each other on clay for only the second time.
Alcaraz and Sinner last locked horns against each other on the red dirt in 2022 in the final of the Croatia Open. Interestingly, the match was won by Jannik Sinner in three sets. However, their rivalry was noticed by the tennis world when they faced each other in the quarter-finals at the 2022 US Open.
The marquee contest between the two rising stars in the world of tennis lasted for five hours and 15 minutes at Flushing Meadows. Alcaraz won the match 6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-7(0), 7-5, 6-3, however, Sinner always kept up with the Spaniard’s pace. The two are facing each other for the second time in 2024. They initially played at Indian Wells, where Alcaraz won 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The two hold a head-to-head record of 4-4 and they’re set to put on a spectacle on Court Philippe-Chartrier on Friday. Alcaraz has maintained the quality of his strong forehand in front of different opponents, while Sinner has improved his counter-punching ability on clay. Thus, a five-set marathon is expected to take place in the men’s singles semi-final.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in five sets.

Meanwhile, Coco Gauff lost her first set at the 2024 French Open during her quarter-final match against Ons Jabeur. In addition, the American tennis star is also playing doubles tennis alongside Kateřina Siniaková. Swiatek also leads Gauff 10-1 in their head-to-head record. Their last meeting at the 2024 Italian Open also ended in the Polish tennis star’s favour, 6-4, 6-3.
Prediction: Iga Swiatek to win in straight sets
