Iga Swiatek vs Elena Rybakina prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: French Open 2025

Rybakina is unbeaten on clay against Swiatek so far.
Reigning champion Iga Swiatek is up and running at her most preferred venue. It has been a tough season for the Pole, who is yet to win a title since Roland Garros 2024. Successive defeats in Madrid and Rome, have resulted in her exit from top three of WTA rankings.
The decline has been so steep that she is entered the marquee event as the World No #5 and could fall further should she suffer an early exit. However, Swiatek has started strongly, but it is just the beginning of what is an extremely challenging draw.
Swiatek will meet former World No #3 and Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina in the fourth round, marking the pair’s ninth duel. The duo has produced some cracking contests over the years, and this round of 16 clash promises to be an exciting one.
Match details
- Tournament: French Open 2025
- Round: Fourth Round
- Date: June 1
- Venue: Stade Roland Garros, Paris
- Surface: Clay Court
Preview
Elena Rybakina prevented Jelena Ostapenko’s hopes of facing Swiatek in the fourth round of the French Open, thrashing the Latvain in straight sets. Ostapenko struggled to find the court, and was all over the place. Rybakina on the other hand, has overcome a slow start to the season and is currently playing the best she has, all season.
Like Swiatek, the Kazakh too had not won a title for more than a year, but broke her draught in Strasbourg, just a couple of days prior to her opening round in Paris, where she defeated World No #19 Liudmila Samsonova in the finals.
Rybakina has been engulfed with controversies off the court, which has plagued her form. However, with nine straight victories under her belt, the World No #12 will be looking to upset the defending champion.
Moreover, she is yet to lose to the ‘Queen of Clay’ on clay, having beaten her twice previously—in Stuttgart and Rome. Swiatek, however, emerged victorious in their most recent encounter in Doha, winning in straight sets.
Since the Australian Open 2023, this is the earliest the two are meeting in any tournament. Given the calibre of both Swiatek and Rybakina, it’s unfortunate that they face each other so early in a Grand Slam. However, their recent dip in rankings hasn’t helped their seeding. With so much at stake, this clash promises to be an action-packed contest, and potentially the match of the French Open 2025.

Match prediction
This is a match which is expected to go down to the wire. Over the previous three rounds, the Pole has looked very confident, while Rybakina has had her moments. Swiatek has been more consistent as opposed to the Kazakh, who’s been high on the unforced errors tally.
However, on her day, Rybakina is capable of beating anyone, even a four-time French Open champion. Moreover, Swiatek has struggled against power hitters this season, having suffered losses to Coco Gauff, Mirra Andreeva, Alexandra Eala, and Danielle Collins — all known for their aggressive, high-intensity play.
Rybakina will look to take a page from their playbook, aiming to disrupt Swiatek’s rhythm and force her into rushed shot-making. If she succeeds, Rybakina could very well knock out the defending champion.
Result: Elena Rybakina to win in three sets.
