Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz also faced each other at Indian Wells earlier this season.

ATP World No. #1 Jannik Sinner has stated that Carlos Alcaraz helps him improve as a tennis player. Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz faced each other in the semifinals of the 2024 French Open. The match was the two tennis stars’ second meeting on clay, and it was expected to be a marquee clash. Living up to expectations, the match was eventually won by Carlos Alcaraz in five sets.

However, both of them made numerous faults throughout the match, and Sinner also suffered from cramps in the last set. Thus, talking about his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz, Sinner stated that the Spaniard helped him become a better tennis player.

Sinner also stated that he always looked forward to facing the Spanish tennis player on the tour. He said, “I am very happy for him. He makes me a better tennis player… whenever I play against him and I lose I know what I have to improve. Me and my team will work on that and we can’t wait to play against him again.”

The Spaniard further added, “think this makes me a better player because we have a rivalry which is a little bit different.. so I am very happy to hopefully show also in the future that I have improved as a player and I’m looking forward to it..”

Jannik Sinner is currently in the top spot in the ATP rankings, while Carlos Alcaraz is second. However, the young tennis star left behind Novak Djokovic to become one of the top two in the ATP rankings. Interestingly, Sinner and Alcaraz have become the first pair of 22-and-under players to hold the top two spots in the ATP Rankings since Roger Federer and Andy Roddick in August 2004.

The two tennis players have faced each other nine times on the tour, with Carlos Alcaraz winning five times. Their most recent meeting was at the semifinals of the 2024 French Open.
