ATP Japan Open 2024: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?

The Japan Open is the longest-running ATP Tour tournament in Asia.

The Asian swing continues in the ATP tour as the Japan Open 2024 has gotten underway. The main draw matches of the ATP 500 event began on September 25. The tournament hosts only two categories which is the men’s singles and doubles. It has been part of the ATP tour since 1972 which saw home crowd favourite Toshiro Sakai lift the title. 42 years later, Kei Nishikori became the second Japanese player to win the title and in 2014 became the first Japanese player to secure multiple wins.

This time the men’s singles main draw is led by world No # 7 and 2022 champion Taylor Fritz who recently played in Laver Cup. The American also reached the finals of the US Open 2024 but faces a stern test in the opening round against Arthur Fils. Meanwhile, second seed Hubert Hurkacz has got off to a winning start against Marcus Giron in the first round.

Defending champion, Ben Shelton will begin his title defence against Reilly Opelka. The event will also the 2014 US Open final rematch as Marin Cilic will take on wirldcard entry Nishikori. Cilic is fresh off winning the Hangzhou Open and will look to continue his winning spree on the tour. Nishikori partnered with Rei Sakomoto as the pair lost in the opening round of men’s doubles.

In men’s doubles main draw, Rinky Hijikata had won the title with Max Purcell last season. This time he is playing alongside Alexei Popyrin as the pair will face second seeds Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski in the first round. American duo of Jackson Withthrow/ Nathaniel Lammons are the top seeds in the event. There will not be any Indian players featuring in the event.
