Joao Fonseca has won two ATP titles so far in 2025 season.

Brazil’s young tennis star Joao Fonseca has taken another huge step in his blossoming career and joined a pretty legendary company in the process.

At the Swiss Indoors 2025 in Basel, Fonseca defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina of Spain in the final 6-3, 6-4 to lift his second ATP title of career.

With this victory, the Brazilian young sensation broke into the ATP Top 30 for the first time (World No. 28), doing so at the exact same age, 19 years and two months, as the tennis legends Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray.

Fonseca’s Basel victory was his second ATP title of the season, following his win at the Argentina Open back in February where he crushed the local hero Francisco Cerundolo in the summit clash.

He also created several records on the way to glory in Basel. Fonseca became the youngest champion in Basel since Jim Courier in 1989, and the first Brazilian ever to win an ATP 500 title. Morever, he is now the youngest South American to win titles on multiple surfaces in the same season.

The Brazilian star, who often draws comparisons to 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, seems to be treading the same path once walked by the legends of the game.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner Roger Federer first entered the ATP Tour’s top 30 rankings in 1999 at the age of 19 years and two months.
