Novak Djokovic underwent immediate surgery in Paris last week.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has started walking without the help of crutches. The former World No. #1 has also arrived in Belgrade after his surgery in Paris.

Last week, Djokovic had to withdraw from the quarterfinals at the 2024 French Open after he suffered a right knee injury. The Serb played two five-set matches in three days. Moreover, he also slipped during the second set against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo.

After further scans, it was revealed that Djokovic had suffered a meniscus tear in his right knee. Later, he decided to undergo knee surgery at the Ramsay Sante in Paris. The surgery was successful, and Novak Djokovic also shared the news on social media with his fans and supporters.

Thus, the Serb arrived in Belgrade on Wednesday, a week after his surgery and he’s able to walk without any visible difficulties, as per The Informer. According to the same report, Djokovic has opted for accelerated treatment at the Center for Hyperbaric Medicine in Belgrade.

Nevertheless, he’s expected to miss at least three weeks of action. As a result, the Serb could miss the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, as he’s aiming to prepare for the upcoming Paris Olympics. Djokovic is yet to win a gold medal at the Olympics and he’s keen to bring glory to his nation.

Novak Djokovic was also Serbia’s flag-bearer at the 2012 London Olympics. However, he’s only won a single medal at the Olympics, and it came at Beijing 2008, where he defeated the USA’s James Blake to secure a bronze.

During a recent interview, the Serb stated that playing at the Olympics is a different experience. He said, “I won a bronze medal quite a long time ago at Beijing 2008. I had the greatest honour of carrying the Serbian flag in the opening ceremony.

He added, “I haven’t had an experience of the opening ceremony since London 2012, so I really hope that I’ll be able to experience that and enjoy my experience at the Olympic Games (in Paris) because it’s like nothing else.”
