Carlos Alcaraz lost to Novak Djokovic in the final of the men’s singles event at the Paris Olympics, winning the silver medal.

Four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz has stated that he will never forget playing alongside his idol Rafael Nadal in the men’s doubles event at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal teamed up to play doubles at the Paris Olympics. They recorded a couple of resounding victories, but their campaign ended in the quarter-finals after they lost to the American duo of Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek in straight sets.

However, Alcaraz won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics in the men’s singles event. Talking about his experience, he stated that he will never forget teaming with the 22-time Grand Slam champion. He also affirmed that he has learned a lot of things from his compatriot.

Carlos Alcaraz said (via ATP Tour), “It was a great experience, talking with Rafa off the court, knowing each other much better off the court. It was a great experience, obviously, playing doubles together.”

The four-time Grand Slam champion further added, “It was something that I will never forget, for sure. I learned a lot talking to him on court, off the court as well. I think we played great tennis in doubles, even if we are not used to playing doubles often.”

However, Carlos Alcaraz also stated that he’s unhappy about not being able to win a medal alongside his idol. Rafael Nadal is a two-time Olympic medalist. He won the gold medal in the men’s singles event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Meanwhile, he won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics in the men’s doubles event alongside Marc Lopez.

He added, “A little bit disappointing at the end because we thought that we could do it better, but in general, we were happy. Obviously, talking about myself, I reached my dream, my dream came true, playing doubles alongside Rafa.”

After the Olympics, Carlos Alcaraz missed the 2024 Canadian Open due to fatigue. However, he has returned to action at the Cincinnati Masters, where he will play his opening fixture against Frenchman Gael Monfils. Alcaraz won the US Open in 2022, which was his first Grand Slam title. Thus, with a successful year, he will be looking forward to winning his fifth major, next month.
