Rohan Bopanna has won the Australian Open and the Miami Open this year.

Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna will choose between N Sriram Balaji or Yuki Bhambri as his partner at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Interestingly, the All India Tennis Association (AITA) is also likely to approve Bopanna’s choice. However, the national association will consider looking for other combinations.

Rohan Bopanna, who won the 2024 Australian Open alongside Matthew Ebden, has been in the ATP top 10 rankings for a long time. As the best tennis player in the nation, he will likely get to choose his partner for the sporting megafest.

The main draw of the men’s doubles event at the Olympics will feature 32 pairs, with every nation having a maximum of two teams. The top 10 players in the ATP rankings will be allowed to choose their partner. Moreover, the rankings after the 2024 Roland Garros will be considered for qualification.

As per the PTI, Rohan Bopanna has suggested the names of Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji to the All India Tennis Association (AITA) for inclusion in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).

AITA Secretary General Anil Dhupar said, “Usually, it’s the player’s choice (to pick his partner). The selection committee will ask him about his choice and discuss that. Whoever Rohan wants to play with, will be considered positively.”

Thus, it seems like Rohan Bopanna will be the final decision-maker for the Paris Olympics. Yuki Bhambri is currently ranked 54 in the ATP doubles rankings. Last month, he won the ATP 250 Munich Open alongside Frenchman Albano Olivetti. Moreover, he also managed to reach the semi-finals of the Bordeaux Challengers last week.

Meanwhile, N Sriram Balaji teamed up with Germany’s Andre Begemann to win the Cagliari Challenger in May. Ranked 82, Balaji also reached the semi-finals of the Francavilla al Mare Open last month.
