Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas started dating in June 2023.
Spanish tennis star Paula Badosa has compared her relationship with Stefanos Tsitsipas to that of Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov.
Earlier this week, Paula Badosa took to Instagram and announced that her relationship with Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas had ended. Badosa thanked her ex-boyfriend and his family for their support and asked for privacy on the topic from her fans.
Badosa and Tsitsipas started dating during the 2023 French Open. The couple initially made a Spotify playlist together before they made a joint Instagram account. The Instagram account was deactivated after the break-up announcement.
However, the former WTA World No. 2 stated that her now ex-relationship reminded her of Maria Sharapova and Grigor Dimitrov, who also had an affair in 2013.
As per the reports during the time, Sharapova and Dimitrov were together for almost two days before they decided to part ways. Some reports even stated that they also got engaged. Maria Sharapova also mentioned her relationship with Dimitrov in her autobiography.
After her win over Mirra Andreeva in the first round of the 2024 Italian Open, she said, “When we were great, the relationship was great. Other times, we have our own careers, our own things, and sometimes it’s better to separate ways. This reminds me a lot of the story of Maria [Sharapova] and Grigor [Dimitrov], where you meet the right person but maybe in the wrong moment. It’s a little bit like this.”

Paula Badosa, who was ranked #4 in the world in 2022, has been out of form recently. In January, she was eliminated in the third round of the Australian Open 2024 by Amanda Anisimova. Moreover, she has played 15 matches this year, losing nine, and is currently ranked #126.
At the Stuttgart Open, she was forced to retire against Aryna Sabalenka in the second round. Meanwhile, she also suffered a first-round elimination in the Spanish capital. Nevertheless, it seems like the 26-year-old has made her comeback on the tour after she defeated Russia’s Mirra Andreeva in straight sets in Rome.
