Qatar Open 2025: All you need to know about prize money and points on offer

Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek are seeded to meet in their first hard-court final.
Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek are the top seeds at the Qatar Open 2025 and slated to meet in the finals of the WTA 1000 event. Swiatek is the defending champion and will be aiming for her fourth consecutive title. Sabalenka won the title in 2020, followed by Czech Petra Kvitova in 2021. Since then, the Doha-based event has been all about Swiatek.
The duo are in a crowded field and will face stiff competition on their path to the final. Swiatek will be defending 1000 points having won the Qatar Open last season. Anastasia Myskina (2003, 2004) and Victoria Azarenka (2012, 2013) are the only other players to win back-to-back titles in Doha.
Swiatek reached the last four in Melbourne, her best showing at a hard-court event. The Pole equalled her best performance at the Australian Open, having made the semifinals in 2022 as well. A deep run by Swiatek in Doha should come as no surprise. Sabalenka was stopped in her tracks by Madison Keys in her attempt to win three Australian Open titles in a row. The Belarusian will look to make up for that loss by winning the Qatar Open for the second time.

Looking to crash the Swiatek and Sabalenka party will be last year’s finalist, Elena Rybakina and the defending champion in Dubai, Jasmine Paolini. Rybakina is coming off a semi-final run in Abu Dhabi where she fell to Belinda Bencic. Paolini will play her first event since a third-round exit at the Australian Open in January.
Paula Badosa, yet another Melbourne semi-finalist, along with Jessica Pegula and Qinwen Zheng, will back themselves to be serious contenders for the title. Pegula reached the finals at Adelaide in January, while Zheng is yet to fire this season.

Zheng, who is Chinese, made history by becoming the first Asian tennis player to win an Olympic gold in singles. Not to be forgotten is Coco Gauff, who finished the 2024 season on a high note by claiming the WTA Finals trophy.
