The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the ATP tour recently uploaded a video of former Swiss tennis legend Federer’s documentary promo. In the video, Federer: Twelve Final Days’ promo can be seen playing in Times Square.
The Amazon Prime documentary about the tennis legend was released on the video streaming platform on Thursday, June 20. Academy Award-winning director Asif Kapadia and his co-director Joe Sabia have tried to give the audience a brief view of the last few days of the Serb’s professional tennis career.
Roger Federer played his last match at the 2022 Laver Cup, partnering with his arch-rival and close friend Rafael Nadal. Federer and Nadal faced Team World’s Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe. Despite winning the first set, the Swiss Maestro’s last match had a negative result of 4-6, 7-6(2), 11-9.
Federer said after the match, “The match, yes, in itself, sure, is special, but it’s really everything that happened after because I wasn’t aware who was going to come to sing, what was going to happen, where I should go, what was expected of me, or how long it was going to go.”
He added, “Then I guess looking around and seeing how everybody got emotional, obviously, it’s even better, or even worse, I’m not sure what to say. That’s what I will remember — the faces I saw were emotional, yeah. Rafa was one of them (smiling). I’m sorry.”

Between 2019 and 2022, Federer suffered from knee issues. He also underwent three knee surgeries for the problems, which restricted his full-time tennis return. Thus, the 20-time Grand Slam champion decided to play his last match alongside Rafael Nadal.
Federer: Twelve Final Days also includes interviews with Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, and Bjorn Borg. As a result, for the advertisement of the Amazon Prime documentary, promos are being displayed at several places across the globe, with one of the most famous being Times Square.
