India will face South Korea in round of Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers.

Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers Round 1 delivered everything fans could ask for, historic wins, emotional moments, surprise upsets, and also heartbreaking defeats. Held from February 5 to 8, the round saw 14 teams book their place in the second qualifying round, scheduled for September.

Among all the stories from this action-packed week, none was more inspiring than India’s 3–2 win over the Netherlands in Bengaluru.

Teams who have qualified for Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers Round 2

India 3-2 Netherlands

Coming into the tie, India were ranked 33rd in the world and faced a strong Netherlands side ranked fifth and runners-up in 2024. The Dutch team had players with international experience and were clear favourites against the hosts who entered as underdogs.

But India had a hero waiting in the wings. World No. 465 Dhakshineswar Suresh from Tamil Nadu produced one of the most outstanding performances in Davis Cup history.

After Sumit Nagal lost both his singles matches, the tie was level at 2–2. With everything on the line, Suresh had to play against 169th ranked Guy den Ouden .

He had already beaten Jesper de Jong 6-4, 7-5 on day one. On the final day, he held his nerve to defeat Guy den Ouden 6-4, 7-6 in the deciding rubber. Earlier, he had also partnered Yuki Bhambri in a thrilling doubles win (7-6, 3-6, 7-6).

Thanks to his rare treble of wins, India reached the second qualifying round for the first time since the format change in 2019.

It was Australia’s worst defeat in a decade and a tough moment for captain Lleyton Hewitt. Last year, they suffered loss in September against Belgium 2-3, failing to reach the Final 8 for the first time since 2021. This time their campaign ended a step further back.

United States 4–0 Hungary

Team USA completely dominated their tie in Tatabanya with a flawless 4-0 win over Hungary. Tommy Paul led from the front winning singles.

Debutant Ethan Quinn saved four match points in a dramatic 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 victory over Fabian Marozsan. Christian Harrison and Austin Krajicek secured the doubles point to complete the sweep.
