Sumit Nagal will be one of the first players to be in action at ATP Shanghai Masters 2024. The opening round matches will take place on October 2 and 3. Nagal will be facing home crowd favourite Yibing Wu in the first round as it will also be their first meeting on the tour. Wu is returning to Shanghai for the first time since 2018 and is making his third career appearance in the event.

Both players will be keen to extend their stay in Shanghai and carry their nation’s hopes in the hardcourt Masters 1000 event. The odds will be on nagal’s favour given his current form on the tour and his overall performance in the 2024 season. The 27 year old has been fit on the court and could set up a second match clash with Jarry.

The Indian fans will be cheering on from all over the globe as they hope the nation’s top ranked singles player will do justice on the court. A win would bring Nagal closer to 50 ATP tour matches as he has currently featured in 47 matches. This year he has played 18 matches and won five of them on the tour.

Nagal’s serve will be on focus as he has won over 68 percent of his service games since January. He has also saved 59 percent of break points he faced. The court coverage of Nagal will come in handy against the monstrous groundstrokes of Wu especially on the hardcourts. But the Chinese player has not been in good form this season.
