The former Australian tennis star Phil Dent is fifth on the list. Phil won 145 matches on the green surface; however, he was never a top name on the tour. He won three titles in his professional career and reached a career high of world No. 17 in August 1977.
His best finish at a Grand Slam came in 1974, when he ended as a runner-up at the Australian Open. However, he achieved significant success in doubles tennis. With 25 titles, including one Grand Slam, Dent was a prolific doubles star. He also won the US Open in the mixed doubles event and helped Australia lift the Davis Cup title in 1977.

4. Stan Smith: 148 wins
Stan Smith turned pro in 1969 after playing amateur tennis for five years. The former American tennis star won 64 singles titles in his professional career, including two Grand Slams (1971 US Open and 1972 Wimbledon Championships).
Finding the most success on the green surface, Smith won 148 matches on the grass in his career. Stan Smith won a total of nine titles on grass.
3. John Newcombe: 164 wins
One of the greatest Australian tennis players in history, John Newcombe, won 164 matches on the green surface. He won a total of 26 major titles, including men’s singles and doubles events in the amateur and open eras. Nevertheless, he found the most success at the Wimbledon Championships.
He won a total of three singles and six doubles titles in the grass Grand Slam. Newcombe won eight titles on the green surface, equal to other Australian icons Rod Laver and Ken Rosewall.

2. Jimmy Connors: 178 wins
With 109 titles, Jimmy Connors has won the most men’s singles titles in the Open Era. In his illustrious professional career, Connors won 178 matches on the green surface. He also won nine titles on grass, including his memorable triumph at the Wimbledon Championships in 1974 and 1982.
Connors enjoyed playing at Flushing Meadows, as he won five US Open titles. However, it’s safe to say that the All England Lawn Tennis Club was his second favourite surface.

The most successful player in the men’s singles event, Roger Federer, has won the most titles on the green surface. Additionally, he also holds the record for the most wins on grass.
The former Swiss tennis star has won 19 titles on grass, the most by any player in the Open Era. Federer has won a mammoth 192 matches on the green surface, including 105 wins at Wimbledon, where he’s also an eight-time champion.
