Jannik Sinner as well as Taylor Fritz, both are playing their first US Open final.

The final of US Open 2024 is set to get underway later tonight as ATP World No. #1 Jannik Sinner will face local Hope Taylor Fritz for the ultimate prize.

Taylor Fritz, who defeated countryman Frances Tiafoe in a five-set thriller in the semifinals, is playing his first-ever major final. Fritz has also become the first male American player in 15 years to reach the final at Flushing Meadows.

Additionally, he has a golden opportunity to become the first male American player to win the title since Andy Roddick in 2003. Roddick was also the last American man to reach the US Open final when he did so in 2006. The 26-year-old has a lot of things on stake as he gears up to take on Sinner.

Fritz’s way to the final has been filled with a lot of struggles, and it has been a tale of triumphs. He has defeated eighth seed Casper Ruud and new ATP World No. #2 Alexander Zverev to reach the final.

In the championship match, he’s up against 2024 Australian Open champion Sinner, who’s playing his first final at Flushing Meadows. Sinner has defeated the likes of Jack Draper, Daniil Medvedev and Tommy Paul to reach the summit clash.

The 23-year-old has dropped only two sets on his way to the final but has also suffered a wrist injury. He received medical attention during his semifinal game against Jack Draper. Meanwhile, Fritz might be exhausted due to his recent matches, where he was pushed to his limits.

Going into the summit clash, Jannik Sinner is the hot favourite to win the match with the odds of 1/4 and an implied possibility of 80%, as per Bet Victor. Meanwhile, Fritz is the underdog with the odds of 18/5 and an implied possibility of 22%. As per SportsLine, Sinner is the -400 favourite while Fritz is the +300 underdog. The over/under for total games is 38.5, with Sinner favoured by 4.5 games (-130).

In simpler terms, if Fritz wins the title, it won’t be regarded as a huge upset because he had the sixth-best odds of winning the title before the tournament started (33-1).
