Jannik Sinner and Jack Draper have also played doubles together.
Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner defeated Briton Jack Draper in the semifinals of US Open 2024 on Friday in straight sets in a highly physical match.
The match lasted three sets, however, both tennis stars had their battles to overcome. After a tight first set in favour of Sinner (7-5), the match became the survival of the fittest. Draper started vomiting on the court while Sinner injured his left wrist.
Both tennis players received medical attention during the changeover in the second set. Ice and other products were applied on Sinner’s wrist, which helped him play without pain. The Italian tennis star was also seen with an ice pack on his left wrist during the cooldown.
Meanwhile, Draper consumed salts and liquids during the medical timeout, which helped him complete the match. However, despite the tough on-court battle, the two tennis stars didn’t miss out on sharing a light moment during the press conference.

During the post-match press conference, Jack Draper was asked about Jannik Sinner’s weakness. In response to the question, the Briton stated that Sinner’s weakness is that he’s nice. He said, “What’s one weakness? He doesn’t have many, Mate. One. Don’t know. Maybe he’s too nice (laughing).”
The press later asked Sinner about Draper’s comment about his ‘weakness’. In response, the ATP World No. #1 lauded the Briton and stated that they had known each other for a long time. The Italian tennis player also talked about his relationship with the 22-year-old.
He said, “No, that’s not true (smiling). We know each other very well. We had a chance to play doubles together. We give ourselves sometimes some tactical, you know, for example, when he has to play against certain players, you know, sometimes if he asks me, I give him a couple of things trying to play against.”
Sinner further added, “Obviously I know I’m righty and he’s lefty, so it’s completely different. Yeah, I feel like we are both very nice off the court. We are good friends. On the court, then we try to play some good tennis, and I think that’s also what the crowd wants to see. So it’s good.”
Interestingly, Sinner and Draper also played doubles together at the Canadian Open, where they won the initial two matches before the ATP World No. 1 withdrew from the tournament due to a hip issue.
