Nick Kyrgios last played at the French Open in 2017 and Wimbledon in 2022.

Inactive Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is expected to make his return at the Wimbledon Championships in June. However, his appearance at the All England Lawn Tennis Club can also be his last in the sport.

Since finishing as a runner-up at the 2022 Wimbledon, the 30-year-old’s time in tennis has been ill-fated due to injuries. He made a brief return at the Australian Open earlier this year, where he lost in straight sets to Briton Jacob Fearnley.

In the meantime, he has given multiple hints about a potential retirement from the sport. Earlier this year, he hinted that he would play the grass court Grand Slam as his swansong.

The Aussie tennis star said during an interview in January. “For me, obviously this year I’ve been out for a year and a half, two years, so I don’t know what this year’s going to bring. Obviously, I’m going to trust the process, I think I’m hitting the ball great.

“I’ve still got a long way to get back to that same level I was in 2022. For me personally, I couldn’t see myself playing more than probably this year high-level singles anymore. “I think I’m weighing up my options.”

Nick Kyrgios prefers playing on the green surface, and if he enters the Wimbledon Championships with full strength, he can be a potential candidate for the title. Before playing in the grass season, the Australian tennis star can also feature at the French Open.

Last month, thanking fans for their birthday messages, he mentioned getting prepared for Paris. He wrote on social media, “Hey guys, couple days after my birthday now. Just getting into training and getting ready to head to Paris in about three weeks.”

The former Wimbledon runner-up can use Protected Ranking (PR) to enter the main draw in Paris. The main draw of Roland Garros is scheduled from May 25 to June 8. Nevertheless, Nick Kyrgios has achieved limited success on Parisian soil.

The 30-year-old’s best finish at the French Open came in 2015 and 2016, when he reached the third round of the tournament. He last played the French Open in 2017, where he lost in the second round. Kyrgios has played a total of ten matches in the clay Grand Slam and has a winning percentage of 50 per cent.
