Gauff and Navarro set up a fourth-round Wimbledon rematch.
An all-American face-off will take place on Sunday as the first week of Wimbledon 2024 draws to a close. Coco Gauff and Emma Navarro won their respective third-round matches in contrasting fashion on Thursday.
Gauff took her third straight-set win in London against British qualifier Sonay Kartal. The World No. #2 got the better of Kartal in just over an hour with a 6-4, 6-0 win. Kartal got onto the board two games into the first set, winning four games in the opener. The reliable Gauff coasted to the finish line under the covered roof of Court No. 1 by winning the last eight games of the match.
Emma Navarro will be standing in the way of Coco Gauff’s Wimbledon aspirations in the fourth round. Navarro rallied to win from a set down 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 against Bad Homburg champion Diana Shnaider.

Emma Navarro vs Coco Gauff preview
Coco Gauff and Emma Navarro, officially teammates at the upcoming Olympics in Paris, will face each other for a chance to make their second-week debut at The Championships. Gauff will be making her third appearance in the last 16. For Navarro, reaching the fourth round in 2024 is her best result on the green turf.
Gauff has dropped only 10 games in three matches and is on the verge of her first Wimbledon quarter-final. She is seeded to meet seventh seed Jasmine Paolini in a last-eight battle between the two remaining seeds in the top 10 in the draw’s bottom half.
On her way to the fourth round, Navarro toppled four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka comprehensively on Centre Court in the second round but was tested by Shnaider. The Russian was on an eight-match winning streak on grass. This win was Navarro’s first over Shnaider in three meetings, reversing the result in the semi-final of the WTA 500 event in Germany in June.
Coco Gauff, Emma Navarro, and Madison Keys are three of five Americans still in the tournament. Bernarda Pera and Danielle Collins join them from the draw’s top half.
Head-to-head records
Matches – 1
Coco Gauff – 1
Emma Navarro – 0
Gauff and Navarro have met on the WTA Tour only once before. Gauff overcame Navarro on that occasion with a 6-3, 6-1 semi-final win on the way to a successful title defence in Auckland earlier this year.
Where and how to watch the live streaming and TV broadcast of Emma Navarro vs Coco Gauff, Wimbledon 2024 fourth-round match in India?
The second meeting this year and the fourth round at Wimbledon 2024 between Coco Gauff and Emma Navarro will be broadcast on the mainstream network Star India and the premium streaming service Disney+ Hotstar. Indian viewers can tune in for ball-by-ball coverage on these two broadcasters.
Prediction
A place in the title round will be easier to come by for the winner as potential quarter-final rivals Jasmine Paolini and Madison Keys are far from Wimbledon heavyweights. Paolini has never made it this far since her SW19 main draw debut in 2021. Keys is a two-time quarterfinalist at the grass-court major eight years apart (2015 & 2023).
None of the remaining players in the bottom half of the draw are seeded. Among them, only 2021 US Open titlist Emma Raducanu is capable of posing a significant challenge.
Both players have made short work of their opponents, with only Emma Navarro being tested in the third round before setting up a meeting with Coco Gauff. Navarro and Gauff are both defensive players, and it will be a question of who slips up first.
Gauff is 35-10, while Navarro is 39-15 heading into their round of 16 face-off. The duo has reached their best WTA ranking the previous month — Gauff a high of No. #2 on June 10th, and Navarro broke into the top 20 with a career-high of No. #17 on June 17th.
Navarro with her win-loss record of 1-4 against top 10 players in 2024 could find the odds stacked against her on Sunday. Navarro has a slight edge over Gauff on grass, having won six and lost two matches on the surface. Gauff, meanwhile, is 5-1 on grass courts this season.
While Navarro and Gauff had signed up for the ecotrans Ladies Open in Berlin, Navarro exited in the first round to Katerina Siniakova. Gauff went on to reach the semifinals, where she lost to eventual champion and countrywoman Jessica Pegula.
Result: Coco Gauff to win in three sets.
