Taylor Fritz had made a stunning comeback to secure a Wimbledon 2024 quarterfinal spot.

Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti will face each other in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships on Wednesday. American tennis star Taylor Fritz made a comeback for the ages, defeating fourth seed Alexander Zverev after being two sets down (4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3).

The 13th seed has matched his best-ever performance at Wimbledon; he reached the quarterfinals in 2022 too. With momentum on his side, the 26-year-old will now be looking to make his first-ever semifinals at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti, on the other hand, has reached his maiden SW19 quarterfinal. The 25th seed, too, has spent a lot of time on the court, having dropped at least one set in each of his previous matches. In the fourth round, he ended French lucky loser Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard’s fine run, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, after initially going a set down.

Taylor Fritz vs Lorenzo Musetti Preview

Fritz has been in decent form in 2024. He clinched the title at Eastbourne without dropping a set, in the lead-up to Wimbledon. Coming in with great confidence, the 26-year-old had dropped only one set in the first three rounds (against French Arthur Rinderknech in the second round).

The fourth round, though, was a test of his fitness and composure, as he came up against Alexander Zverev. Both players were decent on serve: there were only six breakpoints in the entire match, with three of them converted.

Going two sets down, World No. 12 was in no mood to wave the white flag against the 2024 French Open runner-up, handing him yet another heartbreaking loss. He will face Musetti for the fourth time on the tour.

Musetti is touted to be one of the upcoming stars. He came in with decent preparation on grass, reaching the semifinals at Stuttgart, before ending as the runner-up in London.

The 22-year-old has lost the first set in all the matches, barring the third round. His toughest battle was against compatriot Luciano Darderi, against whom he was down 1-2, before making a comeback. It will be interesting to see if fatigue will play a role, in what should be an interesting encounter between two established players.

Matches: 3

Taylor Fritz: 2

Lorenzo Musetti: 1

The American holds the aces in terms of head-to-head. The Italian though had won the previous encounter between them, with the scorecard reading 6-4, 6-4 at the 2024 ATP Masters 1000 Monte-Carlo. They have met once on grass, with Fritz thrashing Musetti in direct sets in the first round of Wimbledon 2022.

Where and how to watch live streaming and TV broadcast of Taylor Fritz vs Lorenzo Musetti, Wimbledon 2024 quarterfinal match in India?

The much-anticipated men’s singles quarterfinal of Wimbledon 2024 between Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti will be available for Indian viewers on the Star Sports Network on TV and its streaming service Disney+ Hotstar.

Prediction

There is not much to separate between the two, with both having had their fair share of ups and downs recently. Fritz is an aggressive baseliner and his groundstrokes are very powerful. Adding to that, he possesses a big serve.

Meanwhile, Musetti is aesthetically pleasing, just like his idol Swiss maestro Roger Federer. He is a prolific shotmaker, with his main weapon being the one-handed backhand.

Interestingly, he will face a seeded player for the first time in Wimbledon 2024 and the young gun would want to be up to the challenge. This has been Musetti’s best-ever performance at a Grand Slam, and he was clearly at a loss for words during his post-match interview after the fourth round.

There are surely going to be nerves, as two players vie for their first-ever semifinal berth at a Major. The American, though, has slightly more experience in playing big matches, and might just clinch the tie.

Prediction: Taylor Fritz to win in five sets.
