Novak Djokovic made his Wimbledon debut in 2005.
Last year’s runner-up and seven-time Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic, is set to play at the grass-court Major. He will start his campaign against the Czech Republic’s Vit Kopriva on July 2 (Tuesday). However, the Serbian tennis star is recovering from surgery, and making a comeback would be a crucial challenge for Djokovic.
The 37-year-old hasn’t been in his best form this year. However, Djokovic has always been famous for his stellar comebacks. With that being said, let’s take a look at the five milestones the 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic can reach at Wimbledon 2024:
5. Equaling Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles
Novak Djokovic has won seven Wimbledon titles while losing two finals. Thus, the Serbian tennis star has a golden opportunity to equalize Swiss maestro Roger Federer’s record of eight singles Wimbledon titles. However, the Serb will have to battle against the likes of Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to get the ultimate prize.
4. Becoming the oldest men’s singles Wimbledon champion
In July 2017, Roger Federer defeated Marin Cilic in straight sets in the championship match to become the oldest player to win Wimbledon. Federer was 35 years old at the time. In 2019, he was close to rewriting his record before he lost against Djokovic in the final.
Similarly, Novak Djokovic was close to making the record last year, when he lost against Carlos Alcaraz. In 2024, Novak Djokovic has the opportunity again.
3. Becoming the oldest singles ATP World No. #1
Novak Djokovic lost his top spot in the ATP rankings after he had to withdraw from the 2024 French Open. Jannik Sinner currently leads the Serb by 1500 points. Additionally, he has 800 points to defend at the Wimbledon Championships while Djokovic will defend 1200 points. Thus, if Sinner gets eliminated early and Djokovic wins the tournament, he can become the oldest ATP singles World No. #1.
2. Become second player to complete 110 matches
Novak Djokovic made his main draw debut at the Wimbledon Championships in 2005. After two semi-final finishes, the Serbian tennis star won his first grass court Major in 2011. Since then, he has won six more titles at the competition. In addition to that, the 37-year-old has won 89 percent of the matches he has played.
Djokovic was also on a 34-match unbeaten streak at the tournament before he lost against Carlos Alcaraz last year. The Serb’s overall record at the grass-court Major is 92-11. Thus, if he reaches the final of the competition, he’ll become only the second player after Roger Federer to play more than 110 matches at Wimbledon.

1. Winning the 25th singles Grand Slam title
Novak Djokovic defeated Russia’s Daniil Medvedev to win his 24th Grand Slam singles title at the 2024 US Open. Since then, he has failed to win any other Grand Slam title. He was stunned by Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the 2024 Australian Open. Meanwhile, he withdrew from the French Open due to a meniscus tear in his right knee.
Djokovic hasn’t played any final in 2024. However, he can make history at the All England Lawn Tennis Club by winning his 25th Grand Slam title. With the triumph, the Serbian tennis star will become the only tennis player with 25 singles Grand Slam titles in history.
