Fans bashed Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios after he claimed that he was in his prime while the ‘Big Three’ of tennis were at their peak.
Taylor Fritz and Arthur Rinderknech faced each other in the second round of Wimbledon 2024. Prior to that in 2023, the two faced each other at the French Open. Rinderknech had won the first set but eventually failed to seal the victory. After winning the match, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, Taylor Fritz shushed the crowd on Court Suzanne Lenglan.
Thus, a year later, he addressed the loss. Arthur Rinderknech said, “The atmosphere will be quieter (than at Roland Garros) and he won’t cry as much. He whined a bit saying it was too noisy. I hold no grudge against him, but he was wrong if he thought the French crowd would send him kisses in between points.”
However, Rinderknech failed to win against Taylor Fritz again at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. After defeating the Frenchman, Fritz told his opponent to “have a nice flight home” during their post-match handshake. The little clash between the two tennis stars garnered attention on social media.

Former Wimbledon finalist, Nick Kyrgios joined the conversation and stated, “this is what the sport needs.” However, a fan denied his opinion by stating that the sport is already doing good, and no fights are required. Interestingly, Kyrgios later stated that the sport isn’t in its most successful period.
Later, when asked about the most successful period, the Australian tennis star wrote, “Hmm maybe when you had prime Federer, Nadal, Murray, Nole, Nishikori, Cilic, Del potro, Berdych, Monfils, Dimitrov, Tsonga…. Kyrgios.”
The Australian’s reaction instantly garnered the attention of fans. Some stated that Kyrgios has never been in his prime while a few affirmed that should remove his name from his self-made list.
Some even called the former Wimbledon finalist ‘delusional’. However, some asked him to return to the tour soon.
Meanwhile, a few fans stated that Nick Kyrgios deliberately snubbed the name of Stan Wawrinka, who won three Grand Slams in the ‘Big Four’ era.
