U-20 Wrestling World Championships 2023: Full list of medal winners from India

Priya Malik became only the second Indian woman to win gold medal in this tournament.
Indian wrestlers recently concluded their participation in the esteemed U-20 Wrestling World Championships 2023, securing a commendable tally of 14 medals. This achievement stands as a notable example of a bright future for Indian Wrestling.
In the previous edition, the wrestlers secured a total of 16 medals, consisting of one Gold, four Silver, and 11 Bronze. However, in this year’s campaign, the wrestlers concluded their campaign with an impressive tally of 4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 7 Bronze medals.
The week-long event started on the August 14 and was held at the Amman International Stadium in Amman, Jordan. The competition featured both men’s and women’s freestyle wrestling and men’s Greco-Roman wrestling.
In this 46th edition of the U-20 Wrestling World Championships, a total of 30 Indian wrestlers represented the nation.
Priya Malik, one of the most prominent young wrestlers from India, achieved a significant milestone by clinching the gold medal at the U-20 Wrestling World Championships 2023 in Jordan. The remarkable feat makes her the second Indian woman to secure a junior world championship title.
Previously, Antim Panghal had been the sole Indian female wrestler to accomplish this feat, triumphing in the last edition of the U-20 Wrestling World Championships. Priya’s extraordinary achievement adds to India’s growing prominence in the realm of wrestling on the global stage.
Mohit Kumar, on the other hand, achieved the tag of U-20 world champion in the 61kg freestyle category. Despite being initially down with a score of 0-6 in the final against Eldar Akhmaduninov from the Russian Federation, he displayed tremendous resilience and managed to secure a remarkable victory with a score of 9-8.
