Dahiya, Malik to lead Commonwealth Games Indian wrestling team
A total of 13 wrestlers will represent the nation at the event in Birmingham.
The Wrestling Federation of India announced the list of the selected wrestlers to represent the country in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Commonwealth Games 2022 begins on 28th July and will end on 8th August.
The governing body of wrestling in India held the trials for both the men's and the women's freestyle wrestling category. While the selection trials for women wrestlers happened at STC, Lucknow, the men's trials took place in Delhi.
Following are the women wrestlers selected with their respective weight categories -

Rio Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik, Olympian Vinesh Pohgat and the first women wrestler to win a silver medal in the World Wrestling Championships, Anshu Malik, headline a formidable women's contingent.
While Sakshi Malik would look to make a comeback in the international circuit with a medal, Vinesh would look to put her Tokyo Olympics woes behind her.
The men wrestlers selected at the Commonwealth Games trials, along with their respective categories, are -

Tokyo Olympic Medallists Ravi Dahiya and Bajrang Punia are some of the big names selected to represent India at the Commonwealth Games in the men's category.
Ravi Dahiya is in great form ever since he won the silver medal in Tokyo. The Sonepat born 24-year-old has won gold in Asian Championships in the month of April. The gold was his third in the continental championships in three years.
India had won one gold, two silvers and three bronze in the women's freestyle wrestling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Whereas the men's freestyle wrestling contingent won four golds, one silver and a bronze medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
