Vinesh Phogat expresses disappointment over postponement of Tokyo Olympics

Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has expressed her disappointment over the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics to the next year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Organizing Committee of the Tokyo Olympic games announced the decision to postpone the Olympics to 2021 amidst rising concerns about Coronavirus Pandemic all across the globe.
Vinesh Phogat said that the postponement of the Olympics is every athlete's worst fear and has left her deeply disappointed. She has already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and is one of India’s medal prospects.
"This was every athlete’s worst fear and it has come true. Everybody knows that competing in the Olympics is the toughest test for an athlete but I believe waiting for an opportunity to be on that stage is tougher! I don't really know what to say right now but inside me there is a rollercoaster of emotions," stated Vinesh Phogat in a statement released on her social media handles.
She remarked, "This is a very crucial time for the world and the greater sporting fraternity. Though I am very deeply disappointed, it is important more than ever to see the silver lining in this dark cloud. Now is the time for all of us to be stronger than ever, keep fighting these extraordinary circumstances and believe with all our might that we will overcome this challenge."
"We need to summon all our reserves of determination, refocus and work towards our goals! While there is more to this chapter, a new story is already being written, but we will overcome. We are all together in this, one world, one goal. This is that unique chance to do something for your family, your community, your country, and our world."
Vinesh Phogat was one of India’s biggest hopes for a medal at the Rio Olympics as well before an injury hit her in the quarterfinals of the quadrennial event.
