A total of 14 Indian wrestlers will participate at the tournament.

A total of 14 Indian athletes will look forward to securing a berth at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics at the World Wrestling Olympic Qualifiers 2024, scheduled to take place from May 9 to 12 in Istanbul, Turkey.

India’s Antim Panghal was the first wrestler from the nation to secure an Olympic quota for the 2024 Paris Games. Her bronze medal-winning performance at the 2023 World Championships in the women’s 53kg category earned her a place at the sporting megafest.

Meanwhile, the likes of Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Anshu Malik (57kg) and Reetika Hooda (76kg) bagged a place in the Paris-going Indian contingent in the Asian Qualifiers in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. However, not even a single male wrestler has managed to book a slot for the Olympics yet.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) will send the same contingent to the World Olympic Qualifiers, which they sent to the Asian Qualifiers in April. As a result, Deepak Punia and Sujeet Kalakal will also get a chance to play in the Olympic Qualifiers after they missed their flight to Bishkek due to Dubai rains and delays.
