Several tag team championship reigns were forgotten from WWE history

The Tag Team division plays a major role in the pro-wrestling industry, especially in WWE, which created several iconic tag teams. WWE has witnessed some of the greatest tag teams, who achieved major success in the company. However, some tag teams are forgotten over the years, due to an underrated reign or unfortunate circumstances. Here we take a look at ten of the forgotten tag team champions in the history of WWE.

10. Ric Flair & Roddy Piper

On Cyber Sunday 2006, Ric Flair challenged Kenny & Mickey of The Spirit Squad for the World Tag Team Championship. Flair’s tag team partner was chosen from the web poll and it was revealed to be Roddu Piper. They teamed up for the very first time and won the tag team titles. The veterans held the title for eight days and lost to Rated-RKO.

9. Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan

In December 2017, Dean Ambrose got injured ahead of his Raw Tag Team Championship match. However, Jason Jordan replaced Ambrose by teaming up with Seth Rollins & defeated The Bar (Cesaro & Sheamus) to become the Raw Tag Team Champions. They held the title for 33 days and lost it back to The Bar.

8. Braun Strowman & Seth Rollins

In August 2019, Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins were in a rivalry over the WWE Universal Championship, however, they were forced to team up and face The OC for the Raw Tag Team Championship and became the Raw Tag Team Champions. They held the title for 26 days and lost it to Dolph Ziggler & Rober Roode.

7. Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre

On Night of Champions 2010, Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre formed a tag team and competed in a Tag Team Turmoil match and won the World Heavyweight Championship. Both held the title for 35 days and lost the title to John Cena & David Otunga of Nexus.

6. John Cena & David Otunga

In 2010, John Cena became a part of Nexus, due to his loss against Wade Barrett. He was ordered to team up with David Otunga and face Cody Rhodes & Drew McIntyre for the World Tag Team Championship at Bragging Rights. Cena & Otunga won the championship, however lost the title to Heath Slater & Justin Gabriel the same night, as Otunga was forced to lie down and purposely lose to his teammates.

5. John Cena & The Miz

In 2011, John Cena & The Miz feuded over the WWE Championship, however, were forced to team up and compete for the World Tag Team Championship against The Corre. Cena & Miz won the championship, but they lost the titles within moments in a rematch, as Miz cost the title.

4. Kane & Rob Van Dam

In 2003, Kane & Rob Van Dam formed a tag team and competed in a three-way tag team match involving Chief Morley & Landstorm & Dudley Boyz and won the World Tag Team titles. They held the title for 76 days and lost to La Resistance st Bad Blood 2003.

3. CM Punk & Kofi Kingston

In October 2008, CM Punk & Kofi Kingston with their mutual rivalry over Legacy, teamed together and faced them for the World Tag Team Championship and won the title. They held the title for 47 days and lost to John Morrison & The Miz in a house show.

2. Stone Cold Steve Austin & The Undertaker

On Fully Loaded: In Your House, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Undertaker challenged Kane & Mankind and won the WWF Tag Team Championship. They held the title for 15 days and lost the title back to Kane & Mankind and they began a feud over the WWF Championship.

1. Batista & John Cena

In August 2008, the two biggest superstars Batista & John Cena teamed together and faced Ted DiBiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes for the World Tag Team Championship and won the titles. They held the title for a week and lost it back to Rhodes & DiBiase.
