WWE SmackDown (June 16, 2023): Matches, news, rumors, predicted matches, timings, telecast details

The June 9th episode of WWE SmackDown has been a great night which hints at the future of the SmackDown division. Last week of smackdown witnessed a brand new WWE Women’s Champion and its 1st challenger, huge demand for the tag titles, every MITB participant, and the internal tensions of the Bloodline. So here is a preview of what is going to occur on the June 16th episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Match Cards & Predictions

AJ Styles & Michin vs Karrion Kross & Scarlett Bordeaux (Mixed Tag Team Match)

Last week on SmackDown, after the MITB Qualification match between Michin (Mia Yim) and Bayley. Aj Styles, who was on the commentary team, was choked by Karrion Kross after Scarlett blinded him with a powder to his eye. Therefore a mixed tag team match is said to occur on this week's episode of SmackDown, marking the debut match for Scarlett Bordeaux.

The feud was teased for months after Backlash and could expect it to extend till the final episode of SmackDown before Money in the Bank. Karrion Kross and Scarlett could possibly win the match by Scarlett pinning Michin and could extend the feud by brutally attacking Styles post match.

The Grayson Waller Effect with Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair made her return to WWE this past week on SmackDown confronting Asuka, while crowning the new WWE Women’s Champion. She then challenged Asuka for the championship at Money in the Bank and was made official. Charlotte will be interviewed by Waller on his talk show “The Grayson Waller Effect” as the second guest for the show on SmackDown.

Bianca Belair could likely interfere during the segment and would argue how her spot was stealed by Charlotte Flair as she never had a rematch after the championship which she lost in a controversial way. Belair’s backstage segment with Adam Pierce in the past week confirms her frustration at not being given a rematch. A brawl between Charlotte Flair and Belair could possibly be a starting point of Bianca’s heel turn.

Tag Team Gauntlet Match for the #1 Contenders of Undisputed Tag Team titles

The competition for the Undisputed Tag Team Championship has been increasing day by day. It has reached a point where every tag team on both the roster claimed for a tag team championship opportunity. Last week on SmackDown every superstar of the tag team division confronted Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to defend the championships against them. However, WWE Official Adam Pierce announced a Tag Team Gauntlet match this friday to determine the #1 contender for the tag titles. The LWO, The O.C., Pretty Deadly, The Brawling Brutes, and The Street Profits will be battling for the spot.

The Street Profits are likely to win the match and become the #1 Contenders and face Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the Undisputed Tag Titles at Money in the Bank.

Roman Reigns Returns

Roman Reigns after a loss at Night of Champions, showed up two weeks before on SmackDown to celebrate his 1000th day reign of the Universal Championship. The segment was held at the main event of the show, where he was awarded with a brand new universal Championship by Triple H.

The Usos interfered and had an internal tension within The Bloodline as Solo Sikoa hit Jimmy Uso with the Samoan Spike. Last week on SmackDown, Paul Heyman alongside Solo Sikoa tried to convince Jey Uso to remain on The Bloodline and dump Jimmy Uso. Paul Heyman had also offered Jey Uso a United States Championship match. Before the match Jey talked to Paul Heyam that he would join The Bloodline, only if Heyman leaves the stable.

During the match Jimmy Uso interfered and caused his chance, Solo tried to attack Jimmy but Jey stopped. After the match Jey pushed Jimmy away and starred Heyman and Solo and left the arena. The returning Tribal Chief could possibly address this issue and the segment would be one of the turning points in the history of The Bloodline.
