Hello everyone and welcome to Khel Now’s LIVE COVERAGE of the WWE Friday Night Smackdown (July 21, 2023). The start is just a few hours away! I’m your host Akash, and I’ll be keeping you company through what promises a fascinating evening of WWE. Please wait for 30 Seconds for the Live blog to load.
WWE is busy booking matches for the SummerSlam to make it one of the biggest nights of the summer. It paved a clear path for the event and initiated its first move last week by almost hinting at possible matches on the SmackDown side. This week, the SmackDown is said to be hosted live from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, United States. Here is a brief preview, details and predictions of the July 21st episode of SmackDown
Friday Night Smackdown Match Cards & Predictions
United States Championship Invitational Fatal 4-Way Match
Last week on SmackDown, WWE hosted the first half of the United States Championship Invitational Fatal 4-Way Match in which Santos Escobar advanced to the finals. This week on SmackDown, the second Fatal 4-Way Match is said to be held featuring Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, LA Knight and Cameron Grimes. As per rumors and predictions, LA Knight is the favorite to win the match by pinning Rey Mysterio. As LA Knight has developed a feud with the LWO before the Money in the Bank, pinning Rey Mysterio and facing Santos Escobar could absolutely make sense.
Roman Reigns Returns

After a major crack developed in The Bloodline, Roman Reigns was pinned for the first time in three years by his cousin Jey Uso at the Money in the Bank. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa showcase the brutality the following week by injuring Jimmy Uso during the Tribal Court segment.
Jey Uso came for revenge later the same night to throw chair shots on Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. Jey then challenged Roman Reigns for a one on one match. The crack developed even more last week as Jey battled his younger brother Solo Sikoa and superkicked Paul Heyman. This week, Roman is said to return to SmackDown and answer Jey’s challenge, which could possibly end in a Universal Championship match at SummerSlam.
WWE Women’s Championship Match Confirmation for Summerslam
The triangular feud between Asuka, Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair is building over and over. Where Charlotte Flair fought Asuka for the title in which Belair cost the match. Last week on SmackDown, Belair challenged Asuka in which Flair cost the match. This week all the three could possibly be involved in a segment, which might turn into chaos resulting in a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam.
Asuka & IYO Sky vs Bianca Belair & Charlotte Flair
IYO Sky might be involved in the chaos with her Money in the Bank, teasing to cash-in but might possibly be booked into a tag team same night. Where Asuka & IYO Sky would take on Charlotte Flair & Bianca Belair. As Bayley was injured during the house show, IYO Sky will be attacked during that match by Shotzi Blackheart (as both IYO & Bayley trimmed Shotzi’s hair in the past weeks). Shotzi shaved her head off, which was posted on WWE’s social media handle and might come with a whole new gimmick to confront IYO.
AJ Styles attacks Karrion Kross
AJ Styles and Karrion Kross have been battling for months since WrestleMania and haven’t ended their feud yet. Last week on SmackDown, when AJ Styles was about to hit the styles splash on Butch for the win in the US Championship Invitational Fatal 4-Way Match, Karrion Kross appeared on the screen who attacked fellow O.C. members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson on the backstage. He also whispered that he is not done with him, this could create a battle this week as AJ Styles is likely to attack Karrion Kross this week and agrees to a match at SummerSlam with a special stipulation.
