On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, leading wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer was asked a question related to WWE‘s future plans of expanding their developmental brand NXT globally, especially in places like Europe and India.

Dave Meltzer on NXT Expansion Globally

To which Dave Melzer answered, that “They would want to do it” but he doesn’t think that would happen. He explained that WWE wouldn’t be able to run the show there and that’s why they are bringing the Indian talents to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for training.

Meltzer sees that WWE is bringing the NXT Europe thing very soon, which was supposed to be launched earlier this year. However he now thinks that after the WWE-UFC merger, WWE expanding a global brand in Europe is less likely to occur. He now heard the rumors that the company has set its focus for next year. However it could take more time than usual.

Meltzer on NXT India

Meltzer reported that, beyond Europe WWE also had an idea before to expand the NXT brand in Mexico, and Japan. However he believes that the company doesn’t understand the current market. Keeping that in mind, Meltzer believes NXT India could still happen.

To the question, as India is one of the non-prime places, if they have three to four members from the country will they go to India then? Meltzer replied, “Yes, it could happen down the line, but I think it’s going to be a very slow process” to end the topic.

As WWE is coming to India in the following weeks for the Superstar Spectacle, with some of the top wrestlers in the business and an all time great John Cena, will it lay the foundation for the plans of bringing NXT India? Do you think NXT India is practically possible? Share your thoughts on the comments section.
