Why Chad Gable should be the next Intercontinental Champion?
The Mighty Austrian Gunther has been the Intercontinental Champion for over 435 days and has been dominating the main roster with brutal fights. As Gunther being the unstoppable force, Gunther suffered his first defeat on the latest episode of WWE Raw. Chad Gable won the match by count out and won the match, but Gunther remained the Intercontinental Champion as count out didn’t crown a new champ. Considering everything, here is why Chad Gable should be the next Intercontinental Champion?
He is the only one to defeat Gunther
On the latest episode of Raw, Gunther defended his Intercontinental Championship against the #1 Contender Chad Gable. The match went extremely well that Gunther suffered his first loss in the main roster as Gable defeated Gunther by countout. However the championship didn’t change hands as the countout didn’t crown a new champ. Gunther already challenged Gable in a 5 minute beat the clock challenge before SummerSlam and failed to defeat him. The back to back failure attempts of Gunther to defeat Gable could be a hint of the new champion.
Incredibly Talented Superstar
Chad Gable is one of the highly talented wrestlers in WWE, with incredible strength and tackling ground skills. He is one of the few olympians of the company, who stood in the company for so long. During his initial days with the company, he was seen as the next Kurt Angle. But due to creativity changes and without a constant tag team partner he was hindered as a jobber. As WWE fans started acknowledging his potential, his singles push could make him win his first singles championship by dethroning Gunther.
Reward for the Alpha Academy
Chad Gable winning the Intercontinental Championship could be the greatest reward for the Alpha Academy. WWE has only pushed a few tag team wrestlers as a singles champion to reward for their talents. Ironically every individual push was against the top heel wrestlers, so this might be a push similar to Kofi’s push to the world championship against Daniel Bryan.
David winning against Goliath
WWE has always booked a match similar to the “David vs Goliath” kind of scenario, where the top evil giant gets destroyed by a small-sized talented underdog. As Gunther took Gable so easily and never considered him as a potential opponent, he lost for the first time. If this scenario repeats, Gable and Gunther could bring the biblical story to life.
Babyface Champion
As most of the championships are in the hands of heel wrestlers, a babyface winning the Intercontinental championship could refresh the main roster and give opportunities to most of the mid-card talents. Since most of the wrestlers are unused, his win could bring them back to the television for a challenge.
Do you think Gable is the right choice to dethrone Gunther and become the new Intercontinental Champion?
