WWE SmackDown (September 29, 2023): Matches, news, rumors, predicted matches, timings, telecast details

The September 29, 2023 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown is scheduled to be aired live from Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California. WWE has confirmed some of the matches and segments for this week, including the United States Championship match. Here is a detailed preview, predictions, match card, telecast details and timings of this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Match Cards & Predictions
WWE United States Championship Match
Rey Mysterio will be defending his United States Championship against his LWO teammate and his disciple Santos Escobar. Santos Escobar was the rightful contender to face the then champion Austin Theory for the US title, however Theory attacked Escobar and made him medically unclear to compete. Which made Rey Mysterio replace Escobar and win the title. Two weeks ago Escobar challenged Rey Mysterio for a title shot, which is all set to occur this week.
As per speculations, Rey Mysterio will retain the championship & there are high chances of Escobar turning on Rey after the defeat, making it a long-term rivalry.
Charlotte Flair vs Bayley
Last week on SmackDown, IYO SKY defended her WWE Women’s Championship against Asuka. Bayley assisted IYO to break the Asuka Lock, by placing her foot on the ropes, which made Charlotte Flair, who was on the ring side angry. Flair attacked Bayley with a right hand, although IYO retained the championship. As a result of an attack, Charlotte and Bayley will go one-on-one with each other this week.
As per speculations, the match will end in a no contest following the attack of IYO SKY. Asuka might come for the aid of Charlotte, resulting in a tag team match next week.
Grayson Waller Effect with Bobby Lashley
Grayson Waller has been interviewing some of the veterans of the company since his main roster debut. This week on SmackDown, Waller will shootout questions on “The Almighty” Bobby Lashley regarding his frustrations over Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins after their loss against Rey Mysterio & Santos Escobar last week.
