WWE has been hosting premium live events and other major shows globally since the beginning of the year. Elimination Chamber was in Canada, Backlash was in Puerto Rico, Night of Champions was in Saudi Arabia, Money in the Bank was in the United Kingdom. With WWE being open to host shows on the international grounds, it is now reported that WWE will be traveling to the other side of the world for a premium live event in 2024.

WWE in Australia

According to a new report by The West Australian, WWE will be heading to the Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia in early 2024. According to the reports, WWE is days away from hosting the event. The show will be hosted on the road to WrestleMania 40 in March 2024 before the AFL season. The stadium has a capacity to hold 70,000 seats based on the layout.

It was reported that earlier this year WWE Officials including Stephanie McMahon had visited Australia to discuss hosting an event there.

UFC inspired WWE event

UFC hosted the UFC 284 in Australia earlier this year at RAC Arena in Perth. Logan Paul visited Australia to promote his Prime brand in Perth being the official sponsor of UFC. Following which then Tourism Minister Roger Cook spoke that he wanted WWE to return to Western Australia.

Then Tourism Minister Roger Cook earlier this year said,

“We all saw how the phenomenal success of the UFC transformed the city last weekend and sold Perth to a global audience. How good was it to have Logan Paul as well doing a quokka selfie for his millions of followers then talking up how great Perth is on his popular podcast? I would love to see Logan back here next year in action with the WWE leaping off the top rope at Optus Stadium in front of tens of thousands of fans,”

He added, “WWE has an enormous global fan base like UFC and Logan has already shown his wrestling ability in the WWE. UFC has put Perth on the map for global sporting bands so we’ll be looking to capitalize on that momentum. We want to make WA the sport and entertainment capital of Australia.”

Dave Meltzer on Australian PLE

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported earlier this year,

“The state government of Western Australia, is negotiating with WWE to run a major stadium show. This would be similar to when the city of Melbourne made a deal with WWE twice to run stadium shows, one of which was a PPV show. The likely city would be Perth, which recently hosted a UFC show and many of the UFC shows outside the U.S. are basically local governments bringing in UFC for tourism or other reasons.”

WWE already teased Australian PLE

At 2023 Money in the Bank in London, John Cena returned to the ring and asked about hosting WrestleMania in the UK, however Grayson Waller interrupted him and said that Australia will be the perfect fit for hosting WrestleMania. However Australia plans come ahead on the Road to WrestleMania 40.

Last event in Australia

Last time WWE hosted a show in Australia was back in 2018, when WWE Super Showdown was hosted. Following the event Stephanie McMahon reported that Australia deserves a big WWE event in near future.

As per speculations, the 2024 Elimination Chamber might be hosted in Australia. This might be a great event in the history of WWE and for Australia. Would you like to see WWE host an event in Australia? Share your thoughts in the comments.
