Shinsuke Nakamura vs CM Punk teased for WWE Survivor Series
WWE have been using CM Punk reference more regularly, since Punk’s departure from AEW. It was also previously reported that CM Punk was in talks with WWE now and then for his return since January 2022. There were multiple rumors that Punk would return at Survivor Series as the company is hosting the PLE at his home town Chicago, Illinois.
Although there aren't any positive updates on Punk’s return, WWE has dropped multiple hints week after week, especially in the Raw brand and particularly surrounding Shinsuke Nakamura. Here are some of the teases that WWE dropped that might end in Shinsuke Nakamura vs CM Punk at Survivor Series 2023.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs CM Punk
During Nakamura’s feud with Seth Rollins, Rollins cutted a promo against Nakamura by endorsing himself as the “Best in the World”, which CM Punk claims himself. During the same feud Michael Cole said Seth Rollins has become Shinsuke Nakamura’s “puppet” and Nakamura as the “Puppet Master”, which is the key words used when Punk cutted an iconic promo during his time in ROH, way back in 2005.
Punk said “This is my stage, this is my theater. You are my puppets, and I pull those marionette strings, and I use your emotions, and I toy with them.
Nakamura is currently using GTS more often, which is indeed the primary finishing move of CM Punk. On the latest episode of Raw, Nakamura appeared on the taped video package, where he cutted a promo in Japanese, which dubs CM Punk’s entrance theme lyrics. Nakamura said “Who is worthy enough to set me free” which references the lyrics “only you coil set me free” from ‘Cult of Personality’.
Analyzing all the hints, it seems like WWE is looking to book CM Punk vs Shinsuke Nakamura for Survivor Series 2023. This would be great to bring Punk to the company and right away enter into a feud with the psychotic manipulator, Shinsuke Nakamura. But, do you think Punk returning to WWE is still on?
