Backstage report on how CM Punk’s WWE return was secretly planned

CM Punk made a surprise return at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 after over nine-years officially inside a WWE arena. It has been rumored for months since his AEW departure that the ‘Best in the World’ would return to WWE and has been in talks with the higher officials. However, WWE and Punk neglected the rumors and made everyone believe that there is zero talk and no chance of him returning to the company and especially at Survivor Series.
But his surprise return shocked every WWE fan and made goosebumps upon return. As soon as his return, a backstage report reveals how his return plan was kept secret.
How CM Punk’s return was kept a secret
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported by confirming from the sources that CM Punk never spilled a word about his hour-long call conversation with Triple H last week. WWE officials had no idea on his return, and he just walked through the back minutes before his appearance. However, the source said that Triple H told to clear the last two minutes and asked to add a copyright logo, as no one in the production knew that Punk was returning.
Sean Ross Sapp wrote on X,
“CM Punk told at least one person close to him he had an hour long conversation with Triple H last week. WWE staff, reps, and creative had no idea. He walked through the back in plain site minutes before he appeared. They had cleared an area out. Triple H took over calling the show in the last couple of minutes and called for the copyright logo. Even many in production didn’t know.”
CM Punk had a great reception from his home-town crowd of Chicago, Illinois, and the chants hit the sky breaking the roof of Allstate Arena. As Punk finally returned to WWE, what’s next for him? Who would he have his first rivalry with?
