WWE is known for making big profits through successful shows, deals and sponsorships. The company, already being one of the successful promotions, was merged with UFC’s parent company Endeavour to list in NYSE for high profits and development of the company.

WWE is majorly owned by Endeavor holding 51% of the stakes. When McMahon had full control over the company, he never was a fan of advertising sponsors in the ringside and always wanted to go unbranded in the ring mat and arena. It was now reported that WWE is looking to have some change in the ringside area by having sponsors in the ringmat and at the arena side.

WWE to have sponsors ringside

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is considering having advertisements in the ringside area, where they could publish sponsor names and logos possibly on the ring mat, barricade on and around the ring. The report suggests that this change is mainly due to the influence of WWE CEO Nick Khan, who might have convinced Vince McMahon. It is expected that we could see a lot of advertising inventory in the wrestling arena soon.

TKO Groups’ UFC has been going with sponsorship ring mats, cage side advertisements and so on, this might be inspired from his merger company.

Sponsors before

Earlier this year, WWE had ‘Mountain Dew’ advertised in the ringside during the Pitch Black Match between Bray Wyatt and LA Knight. During the Slim Jim Summerslam Battle Royal, WWE advertised Slim Jim throughout the arena during the match.

If the sponsorship advertisements get confirmed, we could be able to see a lot of advertising in the ring, which could make us completely forget the traditional plain ring. Do you think sponsorship banners in ringside could be a great idea for the company? Comment your thoughts
