WWE to host Backlash 2024 PLE in France

WWE has been hosting international premium live events and major live shows across the globe more often in recent times. In 2023, most of the promotion’s premium live events are hosted in the international venue with a vision to expand the company globally in all parts of the world. WWE hosted Elimination Chamber in Canada, Backlash in Puerto Rico, Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia, Money in the Bank in the United Kingdom, and Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. 

It was previously announced that the 2024 Elimination Chamber will be held in Perth, Australia in March 2024 and a new PLE named ‘Bash in Berlin’ will be hosted in Berlin, Germany in August 2024. Following which WWE announced another major PLE in Europe next year with its venue and date.

WWE Backlash 2024 in France

Earlier this year, WWE CEO, Nick Khan reported that the company is in negotiations with a number of international cities to host shows there as a process of international expansion of the business. Following which the company announced PLE’s in Australia and Berlin.

It was then reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Paris, France was being one of the potential cities to host an event in May, which probably could be Backlash 2024.

WWE has now confirmed that the 2024 Backlash PLE will be hosted at LADLC Arena in Lyon-Decines, France on May 4, 2024 (Saturday). This is the first time WWE has been hosting a Premium Live Event in France and is the third time Backlash has been hosted in the international venues. WWE also revealed the 2024 Backlash logo, where it mentions the host country name and logo underneath the ‘Backlash’ logo.

The report added that WWE will be hosting SmackDown in France for the very first time on May 3, 2024 one day prior to WWE Backlash 2024. It was announced that the Priority ticket packages will be on sale soon from ‘On Location’, which includes premium seating, pre-show hospitality, ringside photos, exclusive merchandise and more.

The 2023 WWE Backlash was hosted at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which is the highest grossed and most viewed WWE Backlash in the history of the company. Do you think France could cross the gross next year? Comment your thoughts.
