Matt Riddle's first match following WWE release: Revealed

Matt Riddle had a great five-year run with WWE from 2018 to 2023 and got released as a part of the WWE Layoff in September 2023. He was the last one to get released among the other 21 being released. Following the Layoff, his non-compete clause has now ended and became a free agent. However, he is announced to be signed another wrestling promotion and his return date and first match was announced. It seems like Riddle will be continuing his feud with The Bloodline there too.

Matt Riddle’s MLW return confirmed

MLW posted a video on X (Twitter) and had a press release confirming Matt Riddle joining Major League Wrestling, his first feud after return, venue and date.

Matt Riddle will be making his MLW return on January 6, 2023 at MLW’s Kings of Colosseum in Philadelphia. He will be wrestling a real-life Bloodline member, the cousin of Roman Reigns Jacob Fatu on the event.

Major League Wrestling’s official announcement on X (Twitter) & Press release is as follows,

“Matt Riddle, the chill grappler known for fighting barefoot and winning big has returned to Major League Wrestling… and he has set his sights on “the most dangerous man on planet earth”: Jacob Fatu.

In 2018, Riddle danced with destiny, dominating the MLW World Heavyweight Title tournament, exiting in the finals in a championship bout that could’ve gone either way.

Having won titles around the world, Riddle now returns to MLW to finally win the big one: the MLW World Heavyweight Championship. In order to do so, he has to go through the baddest beast in the land in the “Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu.

Colliding for the first time ever, this dream match promises to be an instant classic.

Fatu has dominated Major League Wrestling, winning the MLW World Heavyweight Championship as well as the MLW National Openweight Title.

Fatu has not been shy as of recent about his 2024 intentions: becoming the first-ever MLW World Heavyweight Champion.

Now Riddle and Fatu fight for their futures in MLW. Who will triumph?”
