WWE Royal Rumble 2024 is weeks away and the event carries a lot of expectations as it kick-starts the road to WrestleMania. As the hype is getting started to heat up, former WWE Star, Matt Riddle reveals that he should have won the Royal Rumble two years ago and it got scrapped in the middle.
Matt Riddle’ scrapped Royal Rumble & Money in the Bank 2022 win plans
The Original Bro recently appeared for a virtual interview on Signed by Superstars, where Matt Riddle revealed the original plans of him winning the 2022 Money in the Bank and Royal Rumble match.
Riddle on Money in the Bank 2022
“Wanna hear something else cool? I was supposed to win Money in the Bank but Vince (McMahon) really likes Austin Theory and literally hours before, they changed it and Austin was added in and threw me off the ladder. After I took two huge ladder bumps off the RKO and everything else and it’s like… But, I love Austin Theory and I’m happy for him. Keep killing it bro.”
Riddle on Royal Rumble 2022
“So I believe — you know, it’s sports-entertainment — that I was told at one point, yeah, I was gonna win the (Royal) Rumble and everything else and then what was it? Bobby Lashley beat Brock Lesnar because somebody came in and hit him with the belt or what have you. Then Brock came in, didn’t wanna do business with everybody, said he was winning, and then he won, and then none of the producers… nobody stood up to him and they let him do it. I didn’t either, I didn’t either. I’m like, f*ck man, I’m just here.”
Matt Riddle had a great five year run with WWE from 2018 to 2023 and got released as a part of the WWE Layoff in September 2023. He was the last one to get released from the company with the other 21 wrestlers. Following the release he joined MLW and now has been announced for his NJPW debut.
