WWE RAW Results, Highlights & Winners (January 22, 2024): CM Punk & Cody Rhodes confrontation went personal
Seth Rollins provide injury update, Gunther confront Seth, Punk & Cody went personal, McIntyre defeated Priest & more!
The January 22, 2024 episode of Monday Night Raw is finally over and it is one of the most must watch episode. It is the final episode of WWE Raw before Royal Rumble and things got heated up with the firey segments and big matches. This week’s Raw not only set the hype for Royal Rumble, but also for the upcoming episodes of Raw and the future. Get to know what happened as we came out with the complete match summary, highlights and results for the show.
WWE Raw Summary & Highlights
Seth “Freakin” Rollins Addresses his future
Seth Rollins kicked-off Monday Night Raw. He was with a knee brace and struggling to walk. Rollins went emotional with Thank you Seth! chants from the WWE Universe. Rollins addresses his match last week and the knee injury. He was asked to stay away for a long time. Rollins feels like he might miss WrestleMania, but fans chants No! Rollins says that his MRI results came and he tore his MCL and woulf away for atleast 4 months. He says that he wish to stomp people, but its not the case now.
Gunther confronted Seth Rollins
Gunther said that the only thing he need to worry about is him. Gunther says that he has the title that one could be proud off. But his heart break when he came to know about Rollins missing WrestleMania. Seth Rollins doesn’t give a damn about what doctors say. He says that he would do anything to get cleared soon in the rehab and walk into WrestleMania as champion.
Gunther says that he would win the Royal Rumble this Saturday and would choose Rollins for WrestleMania and target his knee, back and everything which is not 100% and win the World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins warned him stating look out for what he is wishing for and gave him an handshake.
The New Day vs Imperium
After the segment Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods attacked Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci from the back. The post match attack resulted in a tag team match.
New Day was fired up as Woods and Kingston is firing on Vinci. Kaiser tags in and the momentum changes as Woods punches him on the face, chops his chest and stomps him over and over on thr corner. Woods fights back with a chop. Vinci and was taken out, as Woods tries to tag Kofi, both pulled Woods and delivered a back drop on the apron.
After the commercial, Woods superkicked Vinci on the fsce and tags Kofi Kingston in. Kofi is fired up lands multiple punches on Kaiser. He took both the men of Imperium out anf hit a couple of suicide diver on either men. Vinci tries to counter attack, but Woods attacked them. As the fight went outside the ring, the match ended in a double count out.
New Day begin the brawl and Imperium takes charge. They try to finish Kofi’s career by banging his head with a steel chair, but Woods saved him. Woods try to throw Kaiser over the table, but Vinci stopped. Imperium try to threw Woods, but Kofi stopped them and both speared Vinci and Kaiser to the table.
Backstage: Judgment Day
Judgment were on the backstage where they talk about Judgment Day problems. Rhea says that Finn and Priest will defend their tag team championship against #DIY next week. Rhea doesn’t want them to mess with everyone, which creates problem. Priest will be facing Drew McIntyre tonight all alone. Finn Balor and JD McDonagh will be on Dom’s corner for his match. Rhea Ripley asked Balor to show his vicious side tonight as she doesn’t seen him vicious in a long time. Balor says that she would see him vicious tonight.
Ivy Nile vs Valhalla
Ivy Nile has the first strike, but Valhalla strikes back and collided an elbow to the face. Valhalla delivers a headbutt and tries to pick Nile over the top rope, but Nile banged her head to the ring post and delivered a Bulldog from top rope for the win.
Backstage: New Day
Jey Uso is proud of New Day and delivered a cold pack. New Day is interviewed backstage and was asked about their actions earlier tonight. They say that they are the 12 time champs for a reason. Kofi says that Jey is not the only one to have a singles championship this year, but also him. That’s why he is challenging Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship next week! and walks away. Jey finishes with an Yeet!
Nia Jax, Becky Lynch & Bayley Segment
The Irresistible Force is on the ring with the mic. Jax says that when she steps foot on Rhea she squashed her and the same applies to Becky. They both look to main event WrestleMania, but Nia will end their dream and go to main event WrestleMania!
Becky Lynch interrupts her and says that she is a dumb and says that Nia is the first one in her target. Becky says that she will eliminate her and win the Royal Rumble for the second time.
Bayley interrupts and says that she was looking for Rhea Ripley, but couldn’t see her. But she could send her a message and stated that both her longtime Pals going to lose as Bayley going to win the Rumble match. This turned out physical, where all the three try to tear each other, but Nia stood tall taking down both of them.
At backstage, Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch have a staredown and Ripley walked away.
Dominik Mysterio vs The Miz
Before the match The Miz met Truth and both discuss about the match, where Truth adviced The Miz to be aware of the Mysterio boys Tom & Nick.
As the match began, WWE Universe started chanting “We want Truth”. The Miz has the initial control with a clothesline, but Dom sends Miz out. Balor attackrd Miz when Dom distract ref and Dom delivered a suicide dive to take control. Dom delivered a springboard senton. Miz fights back and delivered a corner clothesline, Finn and JD distract Miz, where Dom kicks Miz before the commercial.
After the commercial, Miz fights back with a couple of clothesline and backbreaker. Miz looks for a Skull Crushing Finale, Finn and JD distract. Miz took down both Finn and JD. Miz and Dom rolldown for a pinfall but not enough. Miz delivered a cross body, looks for skull crushing finale, but Dom pushed him through the ropes and delivered a 619 and Frog Splash for the win.
After the match, Finn Balor attacked The Miz, DIY came for the save. When Miz and DIY looks for the meet in the middle, Judgment Day retreat.
Damian Priest Interview
Damian Priest was interviewed backstage about his match with Drew tonight. Truth came up with DP’s cut for the Tom and Nick merch sales. Priest says that he is handling a serious business today and would see him later. Truth left. Priest on Drew said that after tonight Drew will never cross his path from becoming the World Champion.
Chad Gable vs Ivar
Chad Gable waste no time and went for the overhead kick and cross body from the top rope. Gable chops him and looks for a Cross body again, Ivar caught him and delivered a spinning slam. Gable eacapes Ivar’s offense and went for the top rope for a flying headbutt. Gable was sent out and Ivar delivered a splash from the apron to outside the ring.
During the commercial, Ivar splashed Gable. After commercial, both were in the top rope and Gable delivered a Spanish Fly. Ivar botched hitting the ring post, but delivered a powerbomb inside the ring. Gable looks to fight back, but Ivar sat out on him. Ivar delivered a leg drop from the middle rope, but Gable kicked out. Gable ankle locked him, but Ivar escaped.
Ivar went for the moonsault, but Gable escapes and hit a German Suplex and Ivar kicked out. Ivar took him down and went for the top rope again, where Gable delivered a German Suplex from the top rope. Gable while climbing the top rope Valhalla distracted him, which made Ivar take control and deliver a slam and a moonsault for the win.
Face to Face: Cody Rhodes & CM Punk
CM Punk said Cody to enjoy this moment as WWE Universe chant both their names. They had a similar past to get here. They going to tear eachother on Saturday, but will be friends on Sunday. Cody asks Punk what do we wanna talk about? Punk says that he wants to talk about his father. Punk recalls Dusty Rhodes saying about Cody Rhodes debut in WWE. Cody has changed a lot from a rookie to a main event caliber superstar.
CM Punk was told by Dusty to take care of him, but he is going to break the promise by throwing him out of the ring. As he is going to win Royal Rumble and main event WrestleMania. Cody says that he is indeed looking for the same. As Punk talk about the pase, Cody says that he has transformed all by himself to break nepotism. Cody says that he going to throw Punk out as there is no friends in Royal Rumble.
Punk says that there is no friends this Saturday, but what about Sunday morning. Punk says that he don’t have a famous dad, his father is a electrician, and he is more American Dream than his father. Cody talks about Pipebomb and said that he talked on the ramp and walked out, but Cody was the one who stood for the word. So Cody is more CM Punk than him. Punk took his hoodie off and they heat the things up. Both look for each other in the rumble match and have a deep stare down face to face.
Indie Hartwell & Candice LeRae vs Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark
Candice LeRae and Shayna Baszler started the match where Candice had a clear upperhand over Baszler with a series of shoulder throw down. Zoey and Indi got tagged in, and Indi took her and Baszler out. Candice walked over the rope and threw Zoey over Baszler with a hurricane rana from the apron.
After the commercial, LeRae is still in control of the match taking Baszler and Zoey alone. LeRae delivered a code breaker on Zoey, which landed on Shayna Baszler as senton. Zoey blind tagged in and delivered Z360 for the win. After the match the champ confronted them lifting the title, but was attacked by Asuka and Kairi Sane from the back.
Backstage: Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre was interviewed backstage, where Drew was asked about Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. Drew said that he actually has the advantage as he won the rumble match before and even successfully won the championship at WrestleMania. He is so confident of winning it again. He is now focused on Damian Priest and looks to teach him a lesson.
Backstage: Damage CTRL
Damage CTRL, Natalya & Tegan Nox went for an arguement. Adam Pearce stopped them and said them to save it for Royal Rumble. Pearce said that he invited them to talk about Royal Rumble and upcoming tag team match, but they are doing things out of the box. Kai says that she would talk about it with Nick Aldis. Bayley says that if Kabuki Warriors win the Tag Team Championships on Friday and after Bayley wins the Royal Rumble, he will come to see them so often on Raw.
Drew McIntyre vs Damian Priest
Hands locked and Drew pushed Priest down with a shoulder tackle. Both tries to tear each other apart with bare hands, chop eachother. McIntyre delivered a belly to overhead suplex. Drew sends Priest outside the ring and looks for another suplex, but Priest countered by pushing McIntyre to the ring post and delivered a Falcon Arrow on the announcement desk.
Priest is still in control of the match after the commercial. McIntyre looks to fight back, but Priest hit him with a clothesline and locks his neck. McIntyre broke the choke, but Priest attacked his spine. Both landed a big boot on eachother. Priest lands on his feet first and takes control with a headbutt, chop and a clothesline. Drew measures for a Claymore, but Priest escapes. Drew delivered a spine burster. Priest fights back and delivered a flatliner. Drew delivered a Glascow kiss and Priest delivered a Falcon Arrow.Drew McIntyre was sent out and Priest flew through the top rope. Truth came up with DP’s cut, and Priest pushed him.
Truth looks to open the briefcase to keep it in, but can’t able to open that. Truth went to ask password, where McIntyre attacked Truth. The money flew all over the ring. Priest delivered the clokeslam on McIntyre but ref is distracted with Truth. As Priest threw Truth out, McIntyre delivered a Claymore on Priest for the win.
WWE Raw Results
- Seth Rollins will be on hiatus for almost four months, but promises to clear it as soon as possible.
- Gunther wants Seth Rollins for WrestleMania 40 for the World Heavyweight Championship.
- The New Day vs Imperium ended in a double countout and ended in a brawl.
- Ivy Nile defeated Valhalla by pinfall.
