The 2024 Royal Rumble is the upcoming premium live event of WWE. Although we are more than a month away from the PLE, the hype for the show and the Rumble match has just begun with some of the top wrestlers announcing their participation in the Men’s and Women’s Rumble Match. With weeks away from the Royal Rumble PLE at Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida, the former Rumble winners announced their participations in the Royal Rumble matches.
Becky Lynch & Shinsuke Nakamura for Royal Rumble 2024
On January 5, 2024 WWE (Thursday), WWE hosted the 2024 Preview Special on Peacock, where two of the former Royal Rumble winners Becky Lynch and Shinsuke Nakamura announced their participation for the upcoming 2024 Royal Rumble matches of their division. They become the third wrestlers of their division to declare their participation in the Rumble matches.
So far Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and Nakamura were announced for the Men’s Rumble match and the other 27 members are yet to be announced. Considering the Women’s Rumble match, Bayley, Nia Jax and Becky declared their participation and the rest 27 members are yet to be announced.
Lynch won the 2019 Rumble match as the replacement for Lana at #28. Lynch lasted 13 minutes 20 seconds and eliminated a total of two (Nia Jax & Charlotte Flair) to win the 2018 Women’s Rumble match. She then headlined WrestleMania 35 to win the Raw and SmackDown Women’s Championship at the same time.
Nakamura won the 2018 Rumble match by entering at #14. He lasted 44 minutes and 38 seconds and eliminated three (Sami Zayn, John Cena & Roman Reigns). Nakamura went on to headline WrestleMania 34 and lost to AJ Styles for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Will we see them winning the Rumble matches one more time this year? Comment your thoughts.
