Former WWE US Champion set to return from injury soon

On SmackDown after WWE Crown Jewel 2023, LWO developed an internal dispute, where Carlito blamed Santos Escobar for Rey Mysterio’s US Champion loss to Logan Paul, as he was the one who left the brass knuckle for Logan to dethrone Rey. The issue developed as Escobar attacked Rey Mysterio to leave LWO and injured Rey’s knee by squashing his knee between the stairs.

This worsened his knee and resulted in a knee surgery, which Mysterio himself had revealed on his social media handles. Since then Rey Mysterio has not been seen on WWE television, however the latest report regarding Rey’s WWE return has been released, which seems like we are nearing his return.

Rey Mysterio’s WWE return

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Mysterio will be back in action within a few weeks.

Dave Meltzer said “Rey Mysterio’s return now looks to be in a few weeks”.

Rey in a previous interview with Baker Banter said that he is working hard to return by Royal Rumble or shortly after Royal Rumble, however since he hasn’t shown up, we could consider it may be on post-Elimination Chamber.

Rey Mysterio in his previous interview said,

“I’m really working hard on my physical therapy. I just had knee surgery, thanks to Santos Escobar, and his time will come eventually. I do hope that I can return for the Rumble, if not shortly after that. I am working very hard to make my return as soon as possible.”

There have been backstage rumors that Rey Mysterio will be working with Santos Escobar for WrestleMania 40 seeking revenge and representing LWO. However, it still remains a rumor and there isn’t any official information about that. We need to wait until the Ultimate Luchador is back in action after months of hiatus.
